Men's

Diogo Soares

Arthur Nory

Women's

Rebeca Andrade

Flávia Saraiva

Jade Barbosa

Lorrane Oliveira

Júlia Soares

For the men, they opted for Nory (former medalist, world champion) instead of an AA gymnast (Caio Souza, who is the alternate). Third Olympic participation for Nory and second for Soares. The women's team is the same who won a world silver medal last year, with Carolyne Pedro as the alternate. Third Olympics for Andrade, Saraiva and Barbosa, second for Oliveira, and first for Júlia.

US men's gymnastics team:

Fred Richard, Brody Malone, Asher Hong, Paul Juda and Stephen Nedoroscik :yikes:.

Alernates: Khoi Young, Shane Wiskus.

Taking Nedoroscik seems like a massive overreaction to a poor team pommel performances at trials. It's not like Nedoroscik's pommel scores were that good (14.45 and 14.85) and leaving out current world pommel silver medaliist Khoi Young because of a couple of falls seems incredibly harsh.

Also it's not like Nedoroscik is the most consistent in his event. Seems like this decision could cost them a medal in the team event?

@vinipereira

what do you think what score will be needed to reach the apparatus final (men) in floor and vault?
I know difficult to predict, but a rough estimation would be great.
thanks

14.600 should be enough for both.

Women's

Hezly Rivera

Jade Carey

Simone Biles

Sunisa Lee

Jordan Chiles

Unusual to see 4 gymnasts from the last Olympics being selected again, but of course things would be different if Shilese Jones and Skye Blakely weren't injured.

Are they still the no1 gold contenders? (assuming Biles is fully healthy ). And Biles the main Individual All Around gold contender?

For sure, but as we saw in Tokyo, the team relies heavily on Biles' scores (which alone could put them 2-3 points ahead of the other contenders).
