gotta be honest...I know Speedskating already is a core discipline at the Winter Olympics, but I think also the Inline Speedskating should become Olympic (in Summer) and replace the Street events

World Skate should make something about it!

The IOC won't allowed it. The IOC already scammed World Skate by convincing them to be the world federation for skateboarding by saying maybe they will add some roller sports along with it only to deny everything else proposed.

why that's surprising ? :d we are supposed to be only good in fighting sports ?  one guy/girl probably started something and the rest followed. that's how a sport develops everywhere, right? almost all of these guys are from the same town (Isfahan) that probably explains it.

lots of kids play/train different disciplines of skating here. (I mean for fun) unfortunately we have a very lousy skating federation which never capitalizes on this potential. only this discipline has some success. still no popularity for the so-called urban and youthful Olympic discipline of skateboarding. :d

speed slalom was in 2022 Asian Games program, therefore some of these guys had a chance to be on TV for couple of days and the new world champion Taraneh Ahmadi is a little bit famous for winning a silver medal there. (first even Asian Games roller sports medal for Iran)

it's surprising because I only follow this sport at the World Skate Games and I never heard of :IRI being such kind of powerhouse :d

well, you know that I know that you're good not only in combat sports ;) but I didn't know about this one :dunno: :p

I think they (or the generation before them) also won few medals in previous World Skate Games (maybe in 2019 ?) in this discipline.

they usually battle with Taiwanese girls/boys for the title in world and asian competitions. this time they won but it's usually a very narrow margin. and they lost it when it mattered the most in Hangzhou Asian Games. that was their only chance to make a name for themselves.

To be completely fair, a lot of the big names aren’t competing (like in the men’s event) as they have chosen to rest after the Olympics…

Every single Olympic medalist from 2020 and 2024 competed in this final.

Surely there’s names missing though, like Covell? I can think of a bunch in the men’s event at least.

Yes, but definitely not "a lot of".

Anyway, the rules are completely broken for allowing 7 girls from one single country to qualify for a final. If they keep doing this, this sport will become unwatchable.
