Is muay thai, like kickboxing, also done with amateurs only? Just checked the qualifying list and in a sport where Thai athletes absolutely dominate, there is a rather large lack of....well, Thai athletes

As in, 6 events and a grand total of 1 Thai man and 1 Thai woman.

Familiar feeling for us Brits.  We invented, or at least codified, literally All The Sports yet now struggle to qualify for most of them.

Difference is that in things like muay thai, the Thai are actually far and away the best. But I guess it is common for combat sports, especially in things like the World Games, to mostly feature athletes you would never really see anywhere near the top :p

No idea if that's also the case in jiu-jitsu, but for sure in kickboxing and muay thai.

Does anyone know where the most comprehensive schedule can be found? Like with times and such.

Edit: as per usual with these things, the official website is a mess, but this one seems to be quite nice and useful.

If you click the date in the results system, you can see a breakdown of the sessions by day: https://www.theworldgames.org/editions/Chengdu-CHN-2025-14/infosystem#//twg2025.swisstiming.com/hide

Thanks!

Meanwhile I have managed to enter everything I wanted into my own calendar with the timetable page, so it all worked out :p

A couple of interesting observations/stats from the entries section of the results system, which I imagine are subject to change over the next few days.

Youngest athlete: 13 years old (squash)

Oldest athlete: 68 years old (archery)

9/10 of the youngest athletes are female

8/10 of the oldest athletes are male

111 athletes are older than The World Games themselves (as judged to the opening date of The World Games 1981).

28 athletes were born after The World Games 2009 (as judged from the closing date of July 26, 2009).

Chengdu 2025: 114 National Organizations

Birmingham 2022: 99 National Organizations

Wroclaw 2017: 102 National Organizations

I saw now, that it will be live broadcasted by Slovak TV (Šport), but i do not how many hours.

In czech TV there will be live each czech floorball match (both women and men). Others will see later, maybe online on website, but probably not. But daily of course.

Update, also online on website: i see in first week except floorball, lacross women, korfbal, dancing as well.
