I think the Netherlands and especially India would be super happy. India would probably declare a national holiday ...

Not so sure about France, Japan and GB though ...

For Germany it would be a decent result. On the one hand "we" should do much better in swimming and athletics than in 2016, on the other hand it would be a miracle if "we" could repeat our great performances in shooting and canoeing sprint. Germany hasn't won a swimming (gold) medal since 2008, so it would be great if Wellbrock could make it happen. Swimming, athletics and track cycling are the sports i care most about at the olympics, so i hope that Germany will do good there.

From a german perspective i also hope that ...

a) At least one german team (handball/hockey) will reach a final

b) At least one german athlete will fight for gold in the individual jumping event till the last round

c) At least one german athlete/team will fight for a medal in fencing

d) At least one german woman will reach the balance beam final

e) At least one german athlete/double will reach a tennis final

I don't know much about track cycling. Never tried to watch it carefully yet. But I will try.

I watch road racing much more.

No, we can't say the same about every sport. In women's football we know perfectly well that all teams will take their best available players. Of course we can make a much better prediction for it compared to men's. Same with a lot of other sports.. volleyball, handball, rowing, canoeing, etc.

 

On the other hand there is sports like Men's football, men's basketball, baseball, tennis, golf, etc with more uncertainty of who will show up as a start. 

 

But you already know all this, I don't know why you found my statement controversial

@Gianlu33 it will be the biggest surprise in the history of Olympic wrestling if Snyder and Sharifov win medals in Greco-Roman

 

I know it's impossible to have knowledge about all sports but taking a look at @rafalgorka predictions, at least in wrestling it's almost copy/paste of 2019 results. we had some surprise winners (specially bronze medalists) mostly because the draw was rigged (yes it was) to help Kazakhstani wrestlers, therefore some lucky wrestlers won some medals they couldn't even dream about. likes of Nurov, Deng and that Swiss guy only can win medal with a super easy draw like that.

 

this is my prediction for freestyle . but remember this is for August 2020, (if they wouldn't postpone the Games) , my prediction for 2021 is different. some youngsters will catch up with big names soon.

 

and I also didn't consider ranking and seedings, because for example Uguev and Ravi are currently 1st and 4th in WR, with no more ranking event left (the last one being cancelled), they were supposed to meet before the final.
