Lopes De Mello :BRA finishes 8th after a fantastic swim and bike. Triathlon can be cruel.

Does anyone know what happened in Golf? The events were cancelled

Archery was delayed due to hail/lightning, so maybe something similar?

Nice to see a sprint finish in the triathlon. A lot of back and forth in the men’s race :yes

And now has been postponed for tomorrow. Imagine if something like this happens in the "super saturday", organization would have a few problems...

Swayne :ISV tied for 4th at -2 after the first day of golf. If she can hold or improve her placement, she may well post the best result of the Games for the Virgin Islands.

B-Girl *checks notes* ISIS to compete for an Olympic quota.

Kind of scared to find out the story behind that particular name…

    • I still shocks, that a country of 4-5 million inhabitants? can be a powerhouse in almost every winter sport + handball, football (most recently with Haaland) and athletics: Ingebrigtsen, Warholm, etc. With such a small population, they can't be missing out on any major talent, surely? This must be the best training system in the world...
    • FIFA announced the stadium and time for each match   for  Iran, it will be 2 matches in LA (and not just 1) and 1 in Seattle and luckily we avoided playing in Canada. absolutely nothing against the country, but there are just too many douchebag Iranian groups in Vancouver trying to mix everything with their stupid politics. it's better to stay away from them.   that can happen in US too but less likely. playing in LA is more like playing at home, at least I hope so. 2022 Qatar was a disaster from our point of view, hopefully this one remains only about football.

    • I don't think he'll mind too much
    • But his time isn`t valid at track record.
    • Vladimir Semirunniy dropped a 12:28 in the 10000m B division, which qualifies him for the Olympics as the fastest time this season (with the big asterisk that it was done in a quad start). Must be a real relief for the Polish team given he isn't looking likely to qualify for the 10000m (or the 5000m) by ranking.   Really problematic that they rank pair start and quad start times together, but whatever.   Also, the Wikipedia page for qualification is updated through the second day.
