:ARU declined its team artistic swimming (not 100% on this) and triathlon wild card

NOCs really don't want quotas this cycle

I wonder how much of it has with this being at the start of the offseason for many athletes? Plus, the very saturated multi-sports games calendar this year...

Edit: I would be quite sad for the girls. I thought they looked good (relative to the region) at the CAC Games. They aren't a team that will challenge for the podium, but they aren't going to embarrass their nation either.

:SKN will be the smallest delegation, currently at 2 T/F athletes.

So :SKN is confirmed to have 2 athletes, but one will be in tennis! I believe this is the first time they have competed in a sport outside track and field

Post-covid world governments finally realizing that using taxpayer money to fund the 30th best athlete in the americas is pointless. Was about time.

There isn’t much government funding for athletes in the US, so I guess we already solved that problem :p

Obviously I meant countries that have no private sector to rely on for funding sport. Basically most countries in the continent.

    • It's all hogwash especially in the short attention span generation. Like nobody cares about Free Tibet anymore either. Free Palestine will last a lot longer due to Saudi Arabia becoming a sponsorship force in sports.   Israel is too weak in soccer to qualify from UEFA zone. The only time they qualified was from the Asian zone and they only beat Australia & New Zealand who were complete nobodies in the 1960s. No such luck in the 60 years since.
    • Oh I assure you FIFA dodger a bullet with Israel not qualifying…   But ya that’s kind of the thing, shut up and dribble is a mantra anti LGBT people have used often. I don’t think it’s hypocritical to remind them of their position
    • Ah, yes but that's not how pro athletes are taught in North America these days? Shut up & dribble is xenophobic, racist or whatever? The hypocrisy of some of these policies were exposed during 2022 World Cup already where the Saudis played it smart and waved their own "Free Palestine' slogans. Forget LGBT rights for a moment, how many 'Free Palestine' flags will be waved in 2026? Or will those be confiscated by default? Somehow I feel this won't be met with similar backlash when China clamped down on 'Free Tibet' in 2008 OG. Saudi Arabia is more important to global markets than Iran & Egypt
    • Wisła Płock just assumed 1st position after five consecutive draws. Must be first time ever a team on a five match winless streak actually moves up to league top.
    • Well ya, which is why the Egyptian and Iranian teams can shut up and dribble :P
    • The problem is, the World Cup is not a local event. Overall it's another storm in a teacup. LGBT rights in Muslim countries won't change a damn inch becuse of one soccer match in Seattle
