well, 2 was my maximum expectation before the competition, so I can't complain and I don't but then watching Ahmadi-Safa losing that way kind of ruined it :(. even IOC commentators were convinced he was the winner but this is Boxing and I think we have to just accept it the way it is.

but in general considering expectations it was a good tournament, boxing is almost dead here, personally I'm more happy for Danial Shahbakhsh, he comes from Sistan/Baloucheshtan next to Pakistani border which is by far less developed and poorest province in Iran, as far as I remember we never had an Olympian from that province.

@Vic Liu I have a habit of learning about naming system of all countries. I think everybody knows for normal Chinese names surname comes first. but I'm interested to know about some of your athletes with non-Chinese name, probably from Inner Mongolia ? or other parts of China.

for example what do you call your 75kg guy ? TUOHETA ERBIEKE Tanglatihan ? or that veteran guy Qiong ? what's the given name and what's the surname ?

TUOHETA ERBIEKE is the given name,in the Chinese national team,we always call him “small BIEKE”

Very interesting question. TUOHETA ERBIEKE Tanglatihan is ethnic Kazakh, Maimaititu Ersun Qiong is ethnic Uygur. These two ethnic groups share the same naming system. The given name comes first, and surname comes after. It actually should write Tuohetaerbieke TANGLATIHAN and Maimaituersun QIONG. The given name is usually called by people, surname is father's given name, so they don't have a certain family name. But people often make mistake because of different naming system of majority of Chinese.

BTW the Maimaiti means Mohammed, tuersyun is also a common Uygur name. But I totally don't know Kazakh name meaning.

Traditionally, we call their given name only, the first part. Like Tuohetaerbieke, Maimaitituersun and Aihemaiti. It's the correct way to call them. But in reality, it's too long for most people, we can call" Bro Tuo" or " Small Bieke".

    • Canoe Sprint There is a now a cap of 5 athletes per gender in the kayak events (down from 6 in 2024). The World Championships has been replaced by the Olympic Qualification Rankings.   K2 lost 2 boat quotas while K4 has gained 1 boat quota. Quota distribution is quite complicated as it usually is for canoe sprint. They also force nations to compete in a minimum number of events based on the number of athletes qualified; 2 and 3 athletes per boat class must compete in 2 events, 4 must compete in all 3 events and 5 must compete in all 3 events and have two entries in the K1 event.
    • Wrestling will have a completely new format, I do not like the changes. ranking isn't really a good idea in this sport, this will force wrestlers to compete in so many events to collect points. which is not good for their health. specially with the current UWW ranking points distribution system which is plain stupid   they are also gifting 18 quotas to very weak countries by that last qualification event. but I understand their point of view. can't wait to see lots of Russian wrestlers compete for weak countries for that 1 available quota.
    • Canoe Slalom Quotas from men's/women's K1 have been moved to men's/women's KX1. K1 will now have 14 quotas while KX1 will have 10 quotas. C1 remains at 17 quotas. Athletes may participate in other events up to a maximum of 2 athletes per NOC.   The World Championship qualifier has been dropped in favour of the Olympic Qualification Rankings (7 K1, 10 C1, 3 KX1), afterwards you have the Continental Qualifiers (1 per boat) and then a new Global Qualifier (2 per boat).   There were a few changes regarding ways to ensure an athlete can only obtain 1 quota. The biggest being at each stage the boat priority is K1 > KX1 > C1 for the rankings and KX1 > K1 > C1 for the continental/global qualifiers. This basically means if the same athlete qualifiers in multiple boats then the quota will be given to the kayak over canoe.
    • I'll post significant changes periodically. I'll start with the recently added/updated documents.   Archery The addition of mixed compound (12M & 12W) forced a reduction on the recurve side. The mixed compound quotas are distributed as follows   Host - 1 World Championships - 3 Continental Games - 5 World Ranking List - 2 Final Qualifier - 1   To compensate the team events will now only have 8 nations. 2 quotas were removed from the World Ranking List and 2 were removed from the Final Qualifier.   Individual recurve and mixed recurve distribution is the same
    • In Rome, it would be useful to roof the swimming pool complex at Foro Italico, possibly with the option of retracting the roof and covering the tennis court complex. Overall, there's a lot to do, for example, compared to Budapest, but unfortunately, this is Italy How many years has Roma been building their new stadium, and they keep pushing back the completion date- now I read it's 2030? and it should be ready. The same goes for Milan- there should be a modern complex of indoor swimming pools with 50 meters pools, etc., but there's a problem with one stupid football stadium, which will only be built after an ultimatum from UEFA
