Our Prime Minister Eduard Heger admitted yesterday a very possible reintroduction of stricter measures in the country from next week (complete lockdown for non-vaccinated, so far we have a "half-lockdown for non-vaccinated" which is really only on paper and does not work at all), He is already counting with a very possible Christmas period general lockdown :facepalm: and a very veeeery possible mandatory vaccination of seniors. and people who work with seniors. Heger did not specify the age limit from which vaccination would be mandatory though.

and it is official. 2 weeks Lockdown for everybody - vaccinated included, in :SVK from Tomorrow. The situation will be reevaluated after 10 days.

Only essential stores will be open. The government has approved a lockdown for the next two weeks. Then the situation will be reconsidered after 10 days. The Minister of Economy Richard Sulík informed about it, stating that all stores except the essential ones will be closed.

Schools however will remain open for the time being. Sulík said they vetoed their closure.

RTV system in the workplace From Monday, the RTV (recovered, tested, vaccinated - in Slovak OTP) regime will be mandatory at workplaces, so the unvaccinated will have to be tested regularly (at least 2 times per week). This regime was supposed to be introduced already this week, but the government did not have time to decide who would provide the necessary tests. Due to the chaos, the governement has earned criticism from employers' representatives. Sulík has already said that it will work in such a way that the tests are provided by employers and will be reimbursed by the state. The RTV regime at workplaces will apply for the next 5 weeks, the state will reimburse employers for the costs of tests at once in January.

The last one is the most funny. You can attend Mass events, but max amount of spectators is 6 (six) person !  well yeah, Mass is a plural:roflmao:

There will be certain exemptions from lockdown, namely:

  • visiting a doctor and travelling to vaccination or testing between 5:00 and 20:00;
  • the essential shopping and services (see the list below);
  • the travel to and from work (with home office recommended), employees will need a confirmation of their employer;
  • travel to and from school and kindergarten;
  • care for family members or other relatives;
  • walking pets within the perimeter of 500m from their home, care for farm animals;
  • being in nature within the district where a person lives;
  • participation in funerals, wedding ceremonies and christening between 5:00 and 20:00;
  • travels abroad and to mass events.

and for what concern sports :

Mass events in Slovakia will be banned from Thursday after the introduction of the two-week lockdown, but professional sports competitions can continue without the participation of spectators. Dáša Račková, a spokeswoman for the Public Health Office (ÚVZ) of the Slovak Republic, informed about it on yesterday. According to Račková, testing of players and members of the team staff will also be mandatory. The activities in the specail quarantine training center for elite athletes will be permitted only with the consent of the Ministries of Health and Education, the spokeswoman added.

The exception for professional competitions applies to the

two highest Ice Hockey Leagues (Tipos Extraliga and SHL - Slovak Hockey League (2nd tier division))

and 2 highest Football leagues (Fortuna League and II. League),

Only Top Tier M & W Handball,

Top Tier M & W Volleyball

and Top Tier M & W Basketball League (lol).

International competitions organized by the International Sports Federation and mass events necessary for the operation of quarantine training centers for top athletes, approved by the relevant ministries, are also allowed.

The participation of spectators in the allowed event is prohibited according to the ÚVZ decree. Testing of players and members of the club/team staff using the RT-PCR test or the antigen test will be provided by the clubs before each round (no more than 48 hours before the match), but no more than once every seven days. Clubs must provide a sufficient number of security staff to monitor compliance with preventive measures.

The cross-country FIS races should fall under the 'International competitions organized by the International Sports Federation', I would assume? Although that's in four weeks from now, so who knows what happens until then.

Yes correct. International recognized competitions are allowed without spectators. Athletes (Vaccinated or not) will just have to present a negative PCR or Antigen test (Rapid Test) no older than 48 hours, wear mask before and after the race, same for the team staff.

Once again the major issue should be the accommodation. hotels must be closed.

but once again as you said it is for the next 2 weeks until 9th december midnight. so the situation should be different after. but yeah, we already experienced that "2-weeks lockdown - Made in Slovakia" pattern already last year and the 2 weeks lasted from All-saints eve (Halloween) last October week to the first week after the Easter in April :p so who knows

The tests won't be a problem, for example Bruna had more tests than races in the past year :lol:

The accomodation though, that's going to be an interesting thing...generally they rent appartments and don't stay in hotels, let's see if that'll work out.

I'll tag @brunamoura here just so she can read things directly here and try and stay updated. The federation will probably go with the "Ah it won't be a problem, so we don't need to check" mentality, so better make sure someone keeps an eye on it :p

    • The NFL are pushing had to develop flag football in Australia in hopes of getting it included in 2032. I hope they fail tbh.   Single gender sports fail the gender equality requirement so netball is out unless they can rapidly fix their gender problem. World Netball not so long ago was refusing utterly to sanction men's international netball or even support the growth of men's netball so they kind of sabotaged themselves and are only changing courses out of self interest because Brisbane was awarded the Olympics.   It doesn't even make sense to propose Aussie rules given how poor the participation is outside of Australia.
    • - Great Britain Team Size Prediction for Winter Olympic Games 2026 Milano Cortina   Ski Sports   Alpine Skiing  (4) - The qualification system is a bit confusing, but from what I gather the team is Guaranteed 2 quotas (one for each gender), and then more are given for rankings. I can only see 1 female qualifying, but the men's team is a bit stronger, and could improve with some juniors coming through. I would say a baseline of 3, with a max of 5, 6 if things really improve.  Cross Country Skiing  (3) - The men's team came 11th in the world cup last year, and with some good results could move up to top 10 which would give 3 quotas, The women's team is non existant.  Ski Jumping  (0) - Nope Nordic Combined  (0) - Nope Freestyle Skiing  (6) - Based on last year rankings, the athletes are ranked: M Moguls (26/30), M Ski Cross (26/32), M Halfpipe (33/25), M Slopestyle (39+40/30) W Moguls (23+42/30), W Halfpipe (3/25), W Big Air (5/30), W Slopestyle (19+22/30)  Barring Injury , thats 2 quotas on the women's side, and I would predict 4 more, with a max team of 7 or 8. Snowboarding  (2) - W Halfpipe (34/25) is the only unknown quota, as both Charlotte Bankes and Mia Brookes should qualify easily. Huw Nightlingale may get a spot for the Mixed Team snowboard cross but I don't know how it works. Biathlon  (0) - Nope Ski Mountaineering  (0) - Nope     Skating Sports   Speed Skating  (2) - Cornelius Kersten and Elia Smelding should qualify, although they both haven't competed this year. Short Track Speed Skating  (2) - A team of 5 went to the world but only a couple could really qualify Figure Skating  (4) - Fear and Gibson should qualify, and the pair team is ranked 16th in the world with 19 qualifiers.      Sleigh Sports   Luge  (0) - Nope Skeleton  (6) - A full team is certainly on the cards, but with only ranking points from the next season counting a lot could change Bobsleigh  (6) - Brad Hall and Co should qualify for both 2 and 4 man. I doubt any more will qualify from the mens side. Adele Nicholl on the womens should also qualify in both events     Team Sports   Curling  (12) - Anything but a full team would be a dissapointment Ice Hockey  (0) - The men were the only chance       Total Optimistic Prediction  -  (60) Total Pessimistic Prediction  - (32)   Total Realistic Prediction  -  (47)

    • North American rugby quotas ( and qualified automatically)    M: and W: and
    • I remember Caroline Golubitsky. She competed with Vezzali for a while but not for long. Rita Konig, whom Vezzali defeated in the final of the Olympic Games in 2000, was more famous, as well as Sabine Bau and Anja Mueller. From what I remember, the Germans competed fiercely with us at some point, but they almost always lost.
