Yes :TGA Malia Paseka  was the only entry for 67kg and grabbed the free quota and of course :AUS Safwan Khalil won men's 58kg quota as expected

but apparently nobody registered for 49kg ! which is weird because there were 3 girls in the preliminary list, two from :TGA and :PNG and other TGA/PNG athletes in the list showed up  and finished the competition.

I was reading the official document, can't see anything there about a situation like this. but I assume normally the quota should go to the next best athlete in the World Ranking which was Yvette Yong from Canada.

This would be interesting, because Canada has entered someone else in the 49kg qualifier ... Would be a reprieve for Yong.

Oceanian taekwondo qualifiers must be one of the most pathetic things in the entire Olympic qualifying cycle...?

If you'd like to help our fellow Totallympics member Bruna Moura get to the 2026 Winter Olympics, after her car crash on the way to the 2022 Olympics, every tiny bit of help would be greatly appreciated! Full story and how to help can be found here!

Well, most Oceania qualifiers are. A necessary evil.

To be fair, it's not an entirely free quota they get. Presumably they also need to pass the weigh in. :p

it seems so :d

The W-49kg saw no athlete qualify after an athlete disqualification due to being over the weight limit for that category and two athletes no shows.
