Thanks :yes I follow the event over the livestream. High jump is after all one of my favourite disciplines in athletics. (Mostly due to being a former high jumper myself in my youth.)

It was my worst jump. I do all three, but man I hated high. Triple was my beautiful baby though.

Sweden has hope regarding the son of the Olympic gold medalist from Athens 2004 Stefan Holm.

Melwin Holm is 15 years old and last week cleared a new PB of 2,13 meters.

He is ahead of his dad thus far.

I heard they’re going to add Mixed Team Javelin to the next Olympics. Teams of 4, two pairs, one throws, one catches.

Your suggestion would be more fun if it wasn't so realistic ;)

realistic? with someone trying to catch the javelin? are you a fan of splatter/snuff movies? or just an extreme sadist? :yikes::hairpull:

I was referring to the "Mixed Team" part of his comment ;) 8 teams,2 throwers per team in knock out system, Quarterfinals to Final will take about 30 minutes, easy to follow - come on, IOC is keen on having such events in the Olympic program!

OK...instead I mainly focused on the "one throws, one catches" the Javelin part...:yikes:

yeah...better not to give IOC weird ideas, as it looks like they love to make them come true...

    • This is going to have an effect on very likely 0 athletes, possibly 1 or 2 we don't really know about yet. It's really mostly the cheapest possible way for them to make a sort of political statement, without having any significant backlash since it won't really affect anyone at the top level of international sports.   Edit: worded a bit wrong, I was thrown off by everywhere 'trans women' being mentioned as the target of this. Of course there is also the somewhat larger category of DSD and the likes, which will certainly affect a few athletes - unfortunately they are often thrown under the bus or mentioned as 'not really women anyway' or something like that, despite, you know, being.
    • Mary Rand has died aged 86. The first British woman to win a Gold in track and field at the 1964 Tokyo Games (where she also took home a further two medals in the Women’s 4x100m relay and Pentathlon).
    • Athing Mu competed in the USA trials in 2024 and 2025 post the 2023 rule changes. She also won Gold in 2022 and Bronze in 2023.    Jelimo the jury is out. She doesn’t look male like the other two do.
    • People focus on trans people because it's easier to pinpoint the affected athletes. Meanwhile it's the athletes with (suspected) DSDs that will have tougher time to convince the authorities and the public opinion that they belong to women's sports.
    • badminton queen Carolina Marin announced that she can't take part into the home Europeans in the upcoming weeks because of her injured knee and calls it a career 😭
    • yes, there are (or there was, at least) don't forget that the women's 800m had world and olympic champions like Semenya, Jelimo and Nyonsaba...basically, it was 10 years of DSD winners only the same Athing Mu was suspected to be DSD (never confirmed, but somehow she totally disappeared after Tokyo) then, there were the 2 girls from Namibia (1 won a medal over 200m in Tokyo) in Italy we have the living scandal Valentina Petrillo (a paralympian!!!), who's actually a real man not to mention the weightlifter from who took part into the Tokyo Games so, it's a real problem all around the globe, not just a US crusade against a few woke idiots
