@Surlympics Yes, but FIBA has a complicated qualification format for 3X3, which qualifies NOCs through federation rankings. They’ll have two chances to qualify for Paris next year, the first being through the UOQT2 (8 teams competing, 1 quota awarded), and the second being through the OQT (16 teams competing, 3 quotas awarded)

Yeah, the federation rankings use the results of the top 25 players and since Canada has almost no depth we won't have enough points to qualify.

It use to be much worse, for 2020 it was the top 100 players which caused nations like Mongolia to farm points by hosting multiple tournaments a day.

Yeah that doesn’t seem right lol. Shouldn’t it be based off of just the best teams in the world . Not just based off of depth? That’s very strange

  • 7 months later...

First win (first tournament also) of the season for our dynamic quartet of Kacie Bosch, Michelle Plouffe (yes, she’s back!!), Katherine Plouffe, and Paige Crozon at the 3x3 Women’s Series Stop in Springfield, Massachusetts, United States! 20-18 win over United States in the final (they were down 4-7 at one point), Michelle Plouffe the leading scorer with 8 points. Looks like she hasn’t missed a beat after suffering a knee injury in September at the Women’s Series Final in Ulanbaatar, Mongolia. This team has so much chemistry with each other, always a joy to watch them play. Really great start to the Olympic season for them, against a pretty strong field (no China, and no Guapo for France), beating some new look US teams (Springfield and United States) that are trying to integrate college basketball/WNBA talent into their rosters for Olympic selection purposes (Springfield had Gray, Harper, Hamby and newly drafted LA Spark Brink, while United States had Burdick, Hull, Howard, and Van Lith), along with an established German roster (which has 3x3 star Greinacher).

19-12 win over Kenya to start off the tournament. Not exactly the best of wins, the Canadians were quite sloppy and well off their best, but props to Kenya for making it a game.

Hopefully they can reset and find their form in their matches against Australia and Netherlands tomorrow, that performance won’t cut it against teams of their caliber.

Canada beats the Netherlands 22-9. Looked pretty good. Unless they lose to Australia later tonight by a lot, they will move directly to the semis.

Edit:

Took my original edit away. Got confused. Canada will make the playoffs unless they lose to AUS by a lot and NED win by a lot vs KEN.
