vinipereira 3,411 Posted July 13, 2016 #111 Share Posted July 13, 2016 Rio 2016 unveiled its 13 posters! A bit much if you ask me. Like in the previous Games we have a poster that just features the logo, and 13 posters by brazilian artists. The others: Spoiler Link to comment https://totallympics.com/forums/topic/212-rio-de-janeiro-summer-olympic-games-2016-news/page/12/#findComment-30962 Share on other sites

That's so true. I watched the Gymnastics trials this weekend and I could break down their broadcast like this: 50% commercials; 30% interviews with athletes and families/sob stories/uplifting video clips; 20% actual competition. I've seen lots of comments from Americans saying it's 'boring' to watch the other countries walk in. I'm not saying all Americans, just the mainstream viewers. American coverage of the Olympics, both Summer and Winter, is always horrid. Many Americans depend on the Canadian feed to get real, live action. I feel sorry for real American sport fans. Then I remember all the medals they win, and I don't feel sorry anymore. Lol I am always furious when they cut it.. But it also has one positive effect, there will be less stupid, ignorant comments to small countries. In my country we also have one TV channel that love to cut or delay sport event ceremonies. And they received a lot of criticism and pressure after showing 20-sec ad in the middle of a football match and skipped the national anthem (which Indonesians are really fanatic to). It is fortunate the Olympics is deemed not popular by them, so they don't monopolize the rights. And to think that for me Rai is one of the worst national TV.. We'll have 2000 hours in live, all ceremony and all events in live (sometime we'll have 36 events at same moments ) Link to comment https://totallympics.com/forums/topic/212-rio-de-janeiro-summer-olympic-games-2016-news/page/12/#findComment-30984 Share on other sites

So, I don't know yet what's gonna be broadcasted, but with dedicated olympic tv channels i'm hoping to see a lot of events Link to comment https://totallympics.com/forums/topic/212-rio-de-janeiro-summer-olympic-games-2016-news/page/12/#findComment-30992 Share on other sites

Though we don't have ignorant comments, you just remembered me of a ignorant commentator we had, who used to disrespectfully talk during national anthems on football matches, and that sometimes started to talk stupid things like "And here you see, Spanish players and supporters refuse to sing the Spanish anthem as they are angry with their government!" "We can see the difference between Italian passionate players and Spanish players who barely sing anything during the playing of national anthems". I wish I was able to teleport there and shout "If you don't know anything, you'd better shut up". intoronto 5,768 Posted July 13, 2016 #120 Share Posted July 13, 2016 Canada's goal is at least 19 medals (one better than in 2012) and top 12 in overall medals.
