Also wonder if this will be a kick up the backside for the BBC who nowadays see the CWG as some kind of imperialist episode best ignored.

I doubt it. The new head of BbC Sport seems against them bidding for the rights so unless he is overruled I think it end up on TNT or C4.

It's looking, as  suspected like CGF has persuaded Nigeria they will get 2034 if they have their sh1t together. Rumours suggest New Zealand have suddenly got their appetite back - perhaps on a more Glasgow scale - for 2038 - if true, that's quite a change in certainty

Good news is that TNT have signed it up in :GBR so it will get the same all of everything coverage the Olympics gets.

BBC might still get secondary FTA rights, as it does with the Olympics.

It needs to if the Commonwealths have a shot of surviving imo. Or it will go same way as Lakeside

As now we come across the world
To share these Games of old
Let all the flags of every land
In brotherhood unfold

It should mean that highlight programmes will be guaranteed on free to air TV but I do worry that the lack of interest for what is a minority TV channel might kill off the Commonwealth Games forever

Well 2030 is secured for India who won’t dare cancel like South Africa because that will affect their long term aims of hosting the Olympics and Football World Cup. 2034 has offers and by 2038 Australia might host again.
