Wow, only 6, that is really, really young :yikes: The first Olympics i followed closely was when i was 13. Though i was following football since 10 :p

Was amazing and magical feeling.. returning back from school to watch summary of the day (summary at 4 pm local time due to time difference) you may guess now that olympics.. at that time no internet no live broadcast except few events

Presenter’s sound was like from under sea .. since then I became addicted 😍

That’s how Vancouver 2010 was for me. I still remember staying up much later than I was normally allowed so I could watch Vonn take gold in the women’s downhill.

I also have a very fond memory of getting home from school just in time to catch the cross country skiing sprint finals.

we didn't have any active MOZ users so we are waiting for your posts! How is sport in MOZ these days? Do you have any new athletics talents like great Maria Mutola??? and how is your canoe program? is it developing?

and we didn't have any active TGA users either! how's your boxers? any chance for qualification for Paris in boxing? and then hopefully another olympic medal? and how do you find your rugby Men's Sevens olympic qualification chances? are they able to make it to Paris in your opinion?

Nice to see new NOCs on the board here! WELCOME!

You need to know most of the users who register are actually spammers, or users who find an event they are interested in the calendar section and think by registering to the website they register to take part in the event :p

We might have a legit new :ALB user here, though! @Erigert You are not a spammer, are you?

Seriously, doesn't one have to be a bit...'off'....let's say, to think registering on what is very clearly a forum will register for an actual international sports event? :p

Some people find calendar events (example: https://totallympics.com/events/event/29673-sprint-canoeing-cac-african-championships-2023/) through a google search, so they do not even surf the website and they just ask for information about that event. I often receive e-mail from athletes/coaches asking how can they register to that event :d Of course it does not happen to Wimbledon or FIFA World Cup event, mainly for smaller tournaments especially in sports like Taekwondo where I have added to the calendar lots of events because they are qualifiers for Paris 2024.

Interesting how the thought process goes of some people :p

Fun thing, the example you mentioned has the ICF's website as literally the first hit on Google....including a contact email address and phone number :d

    • I was in premium economy as well, the extra five inches of leg room definitively helped me stay sane.   For BA I was in business class and I just wasn't impressed at all, despite the cabin itself being really good (it was a 787-900 so their newer business class product). The service was just... not good enough for international business class. With Condor I could forgive the service not being that good because of how little (relatively) I paid, and the seat was comfortable enough.
    • Yes. This was the best WOG since at least Sochi 2014. I only started paying attention to the Olympics after London 2012, so small sample size. But, this was the best WOG I can remember. European fans and atmosphere make everything better in my opinion.
    • There were lots of good moments , this olympics felt so special (I am talking of WOG). The last time I really enjoyed viewing WOG was in Sochi & this tops it. So many feel good moments, very well attended event with spectators filling up stands & making an atmosphere. So many top performances, but for me the  women team dominating the Biathlon event was really special. All 3 of them were just so good & gave top performance. I love it how the female commentator pronounced  Lou Jeanmonnot  & finally grazie mille  we loved it! Thanks for making me fall in love with winter sports again
    • I'm surprised that some Hungarians here are interested in some Nazis in Kiev, instead of their country's economic decline over the last 15-20 years, falling under Romania's level of GDP, when around 2000 it was the richest country in the all former post-communist region. But I understand that this is Orban's tactic to continue ruling and stealing the country, to distract from truly important matters and focus on trivial matters. Clinton's campaign slogan in the USA many years ago: "The economy, stupid!" I think that the current opposition leader in HUN should probably do the same- just do your thing and let Orban himself with all of this Soros, Nazis, etc, only the Martians are still missing in this madness, but that may come to pass
    • I found Condor really nice. I did upgrade myself, so maybe thats why. I would fly them again
    • So, wanted to update on this now that I’m back home in Seattle to say I had a really good time in Milan. I ended up not going to events outside of Milan (I went to short track, speed skating and hockey), and it was probably a good decision to keep things simple for my first Olympics.   Getting around in Milan was a breeze, and I feel things were pretty well organized at the venues (though the ice hockey venue definitively could have used a couple more weeks of work). I was especially pleased with the speed skating venue, given it’s a temporary track it looked really good once you were actually in your seat and things were well organized for spectators (even though it was a looooong walk to and from the train station).   So ya, happy with the experience, as a newbie to both attending the Olympics and traveling in Europe. Def made me want to attend the French Alps in 2030 (and subject them to my horrible-for-a-native French accent xD )   Thanks to  for being good hosts.   As an aside, I now understand why people dislike British Airways, and Condor was surprisingly okay, though it was definitively a "you get what you paid for" situation (flew SEA-LHR to get to Europe and FRA-SEA on the way back).
    • Hello everyone, and yes, on the road to LA28! I’m sure there will be some great discussions here.   I made a profile here four years ago and now I’ve finally become active   Better late than never.
