Summer Olympic Games 2016 Uniforms

Recommended Posts

oh my ... the russian uniforms are terrible :yikes: what the hell is this? it´s like a retro USA NASA teams uniforms from the early 80. damn that´s extremely ugly

I really like the french suits, very cool and nice. Also Slovenia is very nice. GB is fine too (except the white pullovers in the last pic). Australian suits are ok too, but the same style and colors for mens and womens isn´t the best idea.

In other hand I don´t like the canadian jackets, the thing with the maple leaf is great but porly realized IMO..but still much better than Russian uniforms:d

and now time for SVK:d

as always we are known that our olympic suits use always the "čičmany ornaments" http://rodegas.deviantart.com/art/Cicmany-secret-of-ornaments-484180360

we used them in London 2012 http://www.webnoviny.sk/svet/predstavenie-oficialneho-oblecenia-slo/15356-fotogaleria.html

also Sochi 2014 :dlink

so no surprise that we are Čičmany style" again also for Rio. I´ll send some pics later but here the 2 minutes introduction video presented by Peter Gelle and Matej Tóth...overall I´m satisfied by our suits, but those socks !!! oh dear those socks! disaster..

Nice flexibility :d

It seems that is very common now to have a dance/acrobatic performance during the unveiling of uniforms.

Going against the grain, I kinda like the Team GB outfits. I just don't think that the bold prints/designs work that well in little pieces of clothing... like in Tom Daley's "uniform" :p

    • This is going to have an effect on very likely 0 athletes, possibly 1 or 2 we don't really know about yet. It's really mostly the cheapest possible way for them to make a sort of political statement, without having any significant backlash since it won't really affect anyone at the top level of international sports.   Edit: worded a bit wrong, I was thrown off by everywhere 'trans women' being mentioned as the target of this. Of course there is also the somewhat larger category of DSD and the likes, which will certainly affect a few athletes - unfortunately they are often thrown under the bus or mentioned as 'not really women anyway' or something like that, despite, you know, being.
    • Mary Rand has died aged 86. The first British woman to win a Gold in track and field at the 1964 Tokyo Games (where she also took home a further two medals in the Women’s 4x100m relay and Pentathlon).
    • Athing Mu competed in the USA trials in 2024 and 2025 post the 2023 rule changes. She also won Gold in 2022 and Bronze in 2023.    Jelimo the jury is out. She doesn’t look male like the other two do.
    • People focus on trans people because it's easier to pinpoint the affected athletes. Meanwhile it's the athletes with (suspected) DSDs that will have tougher time to convince the authorities and the public opinion that they belong to women's sports.
    • badminton queen Carolina Marin announced that she can't take part into the home Europeans in the upcoming weeks because of her injured knee and calls it a career 😭
    • yes, there are (or there was, at least) don't forget that the women's 800m had world and olympic champions like Semenya, Jelimo and Nyonsaba...basically, it was 10 years of DSD winners only the same Athing Mu was suspected to be DSD (never confirmed, but somehow she totally disappeared after Tokyo) then, there were the 2 girls from Namibia (1 won a medal over 200m in Tokyo) in Italy we have the living scandal Valentina Petrillo (a paralympian!!!), who's actually a real man not to mention the weightlifter from who took part into the Tokyo Games so, it's a real problem all around the globe, not just a US crusade against a few woke idiots
