I suppose this means Shiffrin won't return to action this season.

I've sort of been hoping she wouldn't, although of course how to deal with such a sudden loss is different for everyone. It would be entirely understandable though to just skip this whole season, take the time she needs and come back next winter.

Yeah, looks like she is not one of those people who will continue to do what their deceased would want them to.

Would they want them to not even take their time to grief? There's a difference between that or just focussing on the next season, especially in a sport where there is some sort of safety issue involved and having your mind in the right place is important.

Corinne Suter with a very good run.

Okay, Nina Ortlieb suddenly found some mojo too! Just how far have Schmidhofer and Venier fallen off the pace?

Is Shiffrin really going to forfeit the World Cup.. It's a tough loss, but if this was a regular job, you would get a few days off, or a week or so at best. Then it's back to work.

The best way to honour her father is on the slopes and win the WC for him, like he would have wanted.

I like Brignone, as much as the next guy, but a cop out win in the end won't be so special, at least in my eyes. She won't win, because she is the best, but because Shiffrin chose to sat home.
