Artistic Gymnastics FIG World Championships 2019

Good performance for Italy but I fear it won't be enough for olympic ticket, probably we are going to pay the falls in pommel horse, I think that around 247 points would have been enough. Super Chinese Taipei with 250....

I thought the excellent results Chinese Taipei had achieved in past competitions this year were terrible overscores and totally exaggerated, but I was completely wrong. Look at what they did here! Not only they will qualify a full team for the Olympics, but they will also probably reach team final!

Italy will probably not qualify a full team. I had high hopes for them, but it will be hard. Lodadio will also have a hard time reaching the rings final, so probably only one Italian will qualify for 2020. Bummer.

Rhys McClenagham hit his routine! Ahaaa! This is surely enough for a medal, and Adam Steele also scored very decently and has a huge chance of qualifying through the all-around. After a major disappointment yesterday, two Irish gymnasts qualifying today is not bad at all!

Anyone who scores over 78 points should qualify.

Well, France is not doing well, and if they keep this level of performance, Italy might have a chance of qualifying a full team.

And the best Polish gymnast scored over 75, what could be enough for one of the last spots if he's extremely lucky. Poland could qualify, after all. Let's see.

    • This is going to have an effect on very likely 0 athletes, possibly 1 or 2 we don't really know about yet. It's really mostly the cheapest possible way for them to make a sort of political statement, without having any significant backlash since it won't really affect anyone at the top level of international sports.   Edit: worded a bit wrong, I was thrown off by everywhere 'trans women' being mentioned as the target of this. Of course there is also the somewhat larger category of DSD and the likes, which will certainly affect a few athletes - unfortunately they are often thrown under the bus or mentioned as 'not really women anyway' or something like that, despite, you know, being.

    • People focus on trans people because it's easier to pinpoint the affected athletes. Meanwhile it's the athletes with (suspected) DSDs that will have tougher time to convince the authorities and the public opinion that they belong to women's sports.

    • yes, there are (or there was, at least) don't forget that the women's 800m had world and olympic champions like Semenya, Jelimo and Nyonsaba...basically, it was 10 years of DSD winners only the same Athing Mu was suspected to be DSD (never confirmed, but somehow she totally disappeared after Tokyo) then, there were the 2 girls from Namibia (1 won a medal over 200m in Tokyo) in Italy we have the living scandal Valentina Petrillo (a paralympian!!!), who's actually a real man not to mention the weightlifter from who took part into the Tokyo Games so, it's a real problem all around the globe, not just a US crusade against a few woke idiots
