Athletics EAA Team European Championships 1st League 2019

Recommended Posts

I wasn't sure whether to make a general thread for the European Team Championships or one specifically for the First League. But as I want to have somewhere to discuss the First League, I opened one anyway, so I'll let the admins decide.

Anyway, the First League contains the nations of quite a few Totallympians so should be good scrap.... expecting @Werloc @hckosice and @heywoodu, to be interested at least :p

So it's more complicated than usual this year. Instead of the 3 up, 3 down in terms of promotion / relegation, with changes in the amount of teams in the Super League for 2021, it means only 1 team will be promoted, and 5 teams will be relegated to the Second League. This makes it much harder for nations like Ireland to stay afloat this year.

Russia also are still ineligible to compete so they will be one of the 5 relegated teams and only 11 teams will take part.

So you need to be in the top 7 to remain in the First League for 2019, the winner gets promoted to a new 8-team Super League, and positions 8th-11th fall through the trap door to the Second League.... God help us @Werloc and @hckosice  :d

I usually find it hard to get excited for any kind of team competition in athletics :p I just want to see someone finish or jump/throw far/high and then know who won

Just posting some predictions without even really looking into the teams. I think it will be pretty close though between the teams. Norway might have the advantage from the home crowd.

    • I have reported this again and they said it should be fixed now, please let me know if you are still facing issues.
    • more countries added to the list of US ban    you can't travel to USA if you are from : burkina faso , niger , Laos , South sudan , mali , sierra leon ...
    • Yes, but what I mean for Serbia is that everything changed there (unfortunately for us ). 2022 was an unbelievable mess, that's not the case anymore now with just one athlete who has really gone for it and made it, so I'm 99% sure they'll accept it this time.   Who knows though. Plus there's always 1-2 bigger countries here or there who reject something, but it's not gonna be 16 places I'm afraid
    • Doping by Event Type When we look at which events have the most doping cases, a few categories stand out from recent sanction records: Long Distance (3,000m and above): 32% of cases Sprints (400m or less): 24% of cases Jumps: 12% of cases Javelin: 8% of cases Middle Distance (800m–1,500m): 8% of cases Hammer: 8% of cases Steeplechase (3,000m SC): 4% of cases
    • From 2020 to 2025    These three countries alone make up almost two-thirds (61.9%) of all current doping violations in athletics worldwide. It’s worth noting that 199 of World Athletics’ 214 member federations have no athletes on the current ban list. This means the problem is really concentrated in a small number of places. Here’s a look at the top countries: Rank Country Total Violations Percentage Region 1 Kenya 119 24.74% Africa 2 India 108 22.45% Asia 3 Russia 73 15.18% Europe 4 China 26 5.40% Asia 5 Turkey 20 4.16% Europe 6 Italy 18 3.74% Europe 7 South Africa 18 3.74% Africa 8 Ukraine 17 3.53% Europe 9 United States 16 3.33% North America 10 Morocco 15 3.12% Africa
