Ahmad Badreddin Wais finished 47th in the 2018 Mediterranean Games road race. Interestingly, he’s listed as competing for Syria there. However, that might have been administratively necessary to compete, since the CIJM doesn’t currently recognize a refugee team.

 

For record he did finish the race, but over the time limit.

Oh well, the Olympic course will have a tougher field, harder terrain, and will be almost twice as long.

 

Still, he would be a much better pick than the Afghan girl.

 

I can understand athletics, swimming and judo having refugee athletes with little international experience. But cycling would be pretty odd, just because of that possibility of getting removed from races.

well, I hope not but there not many chances remaining to be honest.

 

MTB Cycling lost quota in the last race thanks hyper motivated Dasalu, W Canoeing Sprint, Salkazanov, Skateboarding Street quotas also lost in the absolute finish of the qualifiers & more than probable 0 quotas in tennis and Triathlon did not really help us.   But yeah if we fail to qualify at least 40 athletes to Tokyo this will be seriously embarassing. We need ball hockey at the Olympics and pronto

Fair point. I didn’t even think to check those results. He came 16th out of 20 in the time trial, finishing 2:55 behind the winner from Italy. The race was over 25km for reference.

Badminton, shooting and weightlifting could also seamlessly add athletes though I don't think they have reached the minimum requirements.

 

Currently only marathon runner Tachlowini Gabriyesos has reached the qualification standard.

Off the top of my head Slovakia can get 2 more in artistic swimming, 1 in golf, 1 in judo and maybe 1 in tennis. Plus maybe some people in swimming
