What countries could be added in the remaining events? USA, France, Russia, Germany, Switzerland, Romania, some other european country and that's it? Maybe we will see a weird medal in men's epee.

Good for Hong Kong but I don't know if this Brazil medal can be atributed to a global expansion, her fencing career has basically nothing to do with Brazil.

There's tons of possibilities in Men's Épée alone. Denmark, Estonia (also Womens Team Épée), Venezuela, Kazakhstan, Egypt all have a shot, Japan definitely (in Foil too), maybe even the Netherlands (Verwijlen has always been somewhat close but he's also 35 now.

Boubakri has a chance for Tunisia in Women's Foil and Sabre. Also, GB has a shot at Men's Foil + team.

well, Brazil has also a good male fencer (Foil) in Guilherme Toldo, who also made the top 10 in Rio and in a few world cup events...

however, on a given day there are so many athletes and Countries that could win a medal, especially in the Epee events...

other Countries with a good overall team? Japan first of all

then Poland and Estonia have good chances in the women's team epee...

Netherlands, Denmark, Cuba and Venezuela in the men's Epee...

Egypt in the men's Foil, Tunisia in all the women's events...

Canada also have some very good female athletes (and yesterday they were also close to a surprising medal in the men's Sabre)...

the same Argentina until 20 years ago couln't even imagine to qualify an athelte for the main draw (last 64) of a world championship...now you have at least 3 or 4 fencers regularly doing the main draw at the global events...

a few years ago, you could cry of joy if you had 1 or 2 Nations other than ITA, FRA, HUN, URS and the 2 GER teams in the medal table (actually, in the top 10 of each competition) and 30 Nations at the start of the world champs...nowadays, there are at least 20/25 Countries who have at least an outside chance to win a medal and more than 100 Nations starting at the world champs...yes, Fencing has really grown up a lot in the last 20 years...

Wel, Beran is out. Jurka and Capek are still in but I don't know how good they are. @phelps might know more.

We also shouldn't underestimate Choupenitch in Men's Foil but he'll have a tough draw past his bout against Thailand.

you said it all, I think...

no way Jurka and Capek can go as deep as the top 8..it would be a huge, huge surprise...even bigger than the Luxembourg girl yesterday...

the same for the men's Team Epee...they can definitely do well (and even upset some better teams), but a medal is a very long shot...

lol, another revenge for the Hungarians for a lost Olympic final. This time Siklósi defeated Park Sangyoung. (that Men's Epee Rio final still hurts so much. It was one of the most amazing comebacks I have ever seen in an Olympic final, too bad it happened against Géza Imre, who would have been such a deserving Olympic champion at the age of 41)

I mean, it's not like the Ukrainian federation, or any single federation for that matter, has the power to strip her of her world and European championships medals I hope (not for her sake, but because that would be a super weird precedent)
