Well-trodden path from speed skating to cycling of course, but not everyone does it this way.

Romanian-Canadian Olympic speed skater Alexandra Ianculescu has taken her career in a different direction, joining OnlyFans to support her bid for an appearance at the 2024 Summer Olympics.

Ianculescu competed at the 2018 Winter Olympics for Romania and has since set her sights on Paris 2024 as a cyclist with Canada - and has joined the platform mainly utilized by sex workers - though it is used for other purposes - to help fund her dreams.

Just noticed this:

Kaarle McCulloch to step down as GBCT women's sprint podium coach (britishcycling.org.uk)

McCulloch has been a huge asset for Team GB and her departure will be a big blow for them in the run up to Paris.

Since the retirement of Victoria Pendleton, we've struggled on the women's sprint side of things, but the team are in a good place for qualification and hopefully can take advantage of the home crowd to bank some big points at the world champs in Glasgow.

Missed the announcement of McCulloch's replacement last month with British Cycling opting for a safe pair of hands:

Scott Pollock to return to British Cycling as women's podium sprint coach

With them looking at Emma Finucane to have the potential to win 3 medals next year, it is probably one of the most important coaching decisions they will have made in a long time.

First leg of the UCI Track Champions League Track Cycling in Mallorca:

Sprint Events

Women's Sprint

1.) :GER Alessa-Catriona Propster

2.) :GBR Emma Finucane

The final was a repeat of the European Under-23 sprint final - both in terms of the cyclists involved and the end result.

Women's Keirin

1.) :NZL Ellesse Andrews

2.) :COL Martha Bayona

3.) :GER Alessa-Catriona Propster

:GBR Emma Finucane failed to make the final - whilst she has made great strides in the individual sprint event, her tactics in the keirin are still questionable. Would love to see Chris Hoy getting involved in the squad and helping develop her keirin racing a bit more.

Men's Sprint:

1.) :NED Harri Lavreysen

2.) :FRA Tom Derache

Men's Keirin:

1.) :NED Harri Lavreysen

2.) :COL Kevin Quintero

3.) :AUS Matthew Richardson

Endurance Events

Men's Scratch

1.) :JPN Eiya Hashimoto

2.) :GBR Mark Stewart

3.) :BEL Tuur Dens

Men's Elimination

1.) :CAN Dylan Bibic

2.) :GBR William Tidball

3.) :BEL Jules Hesters

Women's Scratch

1.) :USA Lily Williams

2.) :GBR Katy Archibald

3.) :CAN Maggie Coles-Lyster

Women's Elimination

1.)  :GBR Katy Archibald

2.) :NOR Anita Stenberg

3.) :USA Lily Williams

:GBR Archibald looked to be racing with a lot more freedom than we saw at Glasgow.

Within now and a few minutes, Jeffrey Hoogland is going to attack Francois Pervis' 1km world record in Aguascalientes. The goal is to break Pervis' 56.303 seconds.

There's a live stream here, not sure it's available outside the Netherlands.

https://www.ad.nl/wielrennen/live-bekijk-de-wereldrecordpoging-van-jeffrey-hoogland-vanaf-20-45-uur-exclusief-via-onze-site~acfaf934/

Personally I find it super cool to have a record attempt for this, besides the hour records we're sort of used to, but also it's a bit sad to see this being done in some 'atmosphereless' hall with 5 people present or so :p

By the way, Pervis himself said he thinks Hoogland can break his record by 3 seconds, which would of course be insane. Then again, it's definitely not impossible. When Pervis said his 56.3 seconds, he was usually riding times of around 1 minute on sea level. Hoogland has been consistently going far under that, even going to low 58's...on sea level. Wouldn't be shocked to see a 54.x seconds.

    • Edin usually has mediocre seasons though (that being said this has been worse than usual), then really starts to show up for Worlds. He’s only won 4 GSOC events in his career.     They’re at a 4-2 record at the moment, so seems to be the case again. Plus, they played really well in their loss to Canada.
    • I'm in tears, finally I have access after months. For some reason I can only enter the site from my phone. Surely it must be a problem with my home internet connection.
    • With a week to go till the deadline for the world invitational, the rosters look beefy for the discus on both sides.24 entries for the men[19 accepted in so far] and 25 for the women[18 accepted so far] For the men so far there are three 70 meter throwers[i count Denny as that since it's just 4 centimeters off his pb]10 from mid 66 to low 69,three of 65 and over, four from almost 64 to almost 65.On the women's side the 18 accepted throwers all have a pb of over 60 meters.11 of them have  pbs over 64 plus.of the ones still not there besides Valerie and Yaime who have been marketed so i can only assume they will join, such names as  Sandra Elkasevic,Bin Feng, and jordine van klinken aren't signed up yet, jordine's probably the most likely of them to join in tough feng would be a cool surprise,i somehow don't see Sandra doing this, but it would be awesome if she did.Stahl and ceh aren't in yet on the men's side, ceh has been marketed while stahl hasn't been mentioned at all,[pretty sure stahl will not be there],Lukas[last name is too wild for me to even try] and lawrence okoye aren't there yet either but i'm betting both will be joining in.
    • What a shame. That would have been amazing.
    • It's complete American domination in the women's discus rankings so far this year, they occupy the top 4 slots, and the WORST result of those four was achieved at Ramona .Third place currently belongs to Ciera Jackson who had a huge almost 4 METER pr at the west coast relays on friday-64.42[previous best was 60.77 from march of 2023,and she opened her season a week ago with at that time her second best result ever of 60.14]she also had a 63.66 throw to back this new pb up,and finally with her new personal best she took down the school record that stood for 36 YEARS[Btw Valerie Allman actually competed in Ramona on march 30th but conditions were apparently far from ideal and she fouled four times and her best was a 63.61,i don't doubt that in the event that she competes in the  world intational, the conditions will be perfect,i wouldn't be so bold as to say she wouldl get the world record but for sure i think she could get a new personal best.
