Due to the heat wave, our National U20 Championships which were supposed to take place this week will be now held in September. Also, the Balkan U20 Championships were already cancelled.

So our U20 athletes now will not have many opportunities to achieve standards for the upcoming European U20 Championships...

And now it looks like they won't be held in September, as they are supposed to be next weekend but there is severe flooding in the city where they are supposed to take place...

They will go ahead but in a different city on the other side of the country. A lot of people are complaining but it was either this or nothing.

Seb Coe’s favourite toy gets an outing this weekend - DNA Clash of the Clubs from Rome on YT.  Not quite sure who is involved, but professional Club athletics is of course a fruitful medallist recruiting ground for :ITA :POR :ESP

Berlin Marathon tomorrow!  Sadly coverage outside :GER is varied - some get it for free on the Olympics Channel, others on an expensive PPV streaming service.

    • There will be specialized double sculls...just not for an NOC if it is entering singles specialists.   Either enter 2 singles specialists, or 1 XD specialist pair.   But they can in theory compete in both events, I guess, if they qualify...our top M, I think, does both.   But there are 17M, 17W, and 30 Pairs allotted in the quota, so I don't think the intent is that every singles entry will be in doubles.   (Perhaps this gets to fall in line with Weightlifting, where due to max entry quota, an NOC can't enter in every event, even if they have the best athletes...here, unless you have a pair who qualifies in both.)

    • I read the Olympic qualification documents for weightlifting. A country can have the opportunity to send a maximum of 4 athletes in one gender, but the conditions are very strict.
    • world champion Jessica Schilder opened her season up with 19.78 in France.
    • wait! what???   so, there won't be specialized double sculls, but those boats would have to feature 2 single specialists if a Nation wants to enter 2 proper singles M+W??? tell me I misread the expalaination...
    • Yeah, they do get broadcast pretty regularly.  I remember even back in Bode Miller's day they would show the training.
