Tentoglou started the season yesterday with 8.33 in Athens. This is his best start ever and makes us wonder if he will smash the 8.55 he did indoors last year.

Also our 17 yo Iliana Triantafyllou (pole vault), who won gold last year at the European U18 Championships, cleared 4.30 today in Thessaloniki. Her previous PB was 4.15 outdoors and 3.35 indoors. Stefanidi's U20NR of 4.37 is in danger and will most likely be broken by Triantafyllou over the next two years.

She tried for 4.38 today but unfortunately was not successful. It was also revealed that she will be leaving to go study in the United States and compete there. It might not be the best decision because most of our athletes who did so in the past stopped improving. Even Stefanidi who had a world junior record stopped improving, and only AFTER she completed her studies did she start getting new PBs again...

However we had a big U18NR today in the men's shot put by Dimitrios Antonatos (20.62m with 5kg, Mouzenidis had the previous record with 19.96m), and also Nikoleta Michailidou equaled our U18NR in the women's high jump with 1.83m.

in :ITA Ancona, :HUN Leonardo Tano improved to 7.79 in the men's 60m Hurdles.

who is Leonardo Tano? most people are just asking themselves that question...

well, he's nothing less than the 23-year young son of Rocco Siffredi (and Rosa Caracciolo, for those who know what is it about) :yikes: :yikes: :yikes:

in the last couple of weeks, here in Italy, he's getting more attention than Marcell Jacobs himself

    • Yep, the amount of emergency services I heard at some point was a little extreme (for our little town), so I checked what was going on and saw they were all being called to a specific location. Until then I thought maybe it was part of a parade of trucks and agricultural vehicles that was on it's way from the next town over, decorated with lights and stuff.   Since I knew it was on the parade route, I was sure one of those big vehicles had hit people somehow (there were, besides the many vehicles, also two helicopters on the way, meaning it certainly wasn't about a single victim).   We picked our bikes and went to take a look, absolutely chaos in the area. Never saw so many services combined together, fire trucks from 20km away, ambulance after ambulance came racing by, people frantically trying to make way for them (the roads weren't really closed yet).   While there we heard someone who had been close say that the parade hadn't arrived yet and what seemed to have happened was that a car from the other side came onto the roundabout and simply never turned. "It's a massive drama over there, unbelievable", he said.   Quite quickly rumours started spreading of course, the first one turned out to be true: a middle aged (local) woman was behind the wheel and seems to have become unwell. Local security camera showed the car going at high speed right before the roundabout.   Plenty of rumours going around in terms of who were involved of course, and people keeping each other up to date to see if they know this or that family and such...   Never expected my little town to be big news in the Netherlands, even including some breaking broadcasts, live reporters and everything, damn. By far the biggest thing to happen here in my memory

    • For me, these were very good Olympics, and British sport benefited greatly from them, and is still benefiting. I fear it will be much worse here. Canada also benefited very good on Vancouver 2010 – this is very good see in the medal standings of subsequent Winter Games after 2010 and earlier.
    • Nobody hates Britain more than the British media so… I recall it being quite a pessimistic tone before the London games started.
    • I'm curious what was written before London 2012? Did they attack their own country, or did they just keep quiet?

    • Very true point.  Although I think at this point everyone is just holding their collective breath until the test event.  The NHL isn't going to rage anymore until then because it's not like that would make the arena progress go any quicker
