Speaking of referees, :GAM Bakary Gassama gets the rather meaningles Netherlands vs Qatar game but it gets curious after that, :FRA Clement Turpin gets Senegal vs Ecuador so let's see if they still have some French flags in Dakar and the much-maligned :ESP  Mateu Lahoz gets the USA vs Iran game so we might see some crazy stuff there for sure.

Did any team in WC history (with this system) passed the group stage with 3 points?

Italy in 1982 won the title advancing from the group stage with 3 tied games :evil:

And even if it was a 24-team tournament, in that year only the top 2 in each group moved on to the main round.

It was quite a turnaround.

Who would say it...3 draws turned into title :) Cant recall anything from that WC. Italy probably didnt score lot of goals, was defensive for the most part. :p But good to know that 3rd round will be open for majority of teams to qualify.

In wc I don’t know, but in Euros I recall Portugal in 2016 before winning the European Cup.

in fact, it was that series of draws that resulted in this famous Portuguese meme of our national coach

Iranian Federation demanding holding USA federation for 10 matches for putting Iranian Flag without the name of God in rankings of Group B on their social media channels , the world war 3 is launched and winner takes Iraq :d

oh well :facepalm: these guys are unbelievable.

in past few months everybody and their dogs filed a complaint against IFF in FIFA. (obviously FIFA threw them all away)

they just desperately want to show, see we can do that too. they also sent another one about the FA for writing iRAN and not IRAN on their shirts for England/Iran match :roflmao: and another one against Klinsmann because of his comments (apparently he works for some committee in FIFA)

so be careful guys, Totallympics could be next :d

They scored the goals when it mattered most. 5 goals in the second group stage against Argentina and Brazil, 2 against Poland in the semifinal and 3 against West Germany in the final.

Today it is last day of "world cup vacation" for me :nopompom:

So play it well, guys, entertain me!

From tomorrow on - back to work!

But from tomorrow matches start not before 4 p.m. CET, so if nothing unexpected happens I shouldn't miss anything important....

But still... :nopompom::nopompom::nopompom:

And you obviously know that you won that World Cup only because Zbigniew Boniek couldn't play in the semis after 2nd yellow card in the previous match against USSR :cool:
