Road Cycling UCI World Championships 2022

And the TV directors finish their awful work at these championships in style, by missing what is most likely the deciding moment: Evenepoel jumped away from Lutsenko.

The last time a man took the world title with more than a minute of advantage on the second-placed rider, (a) Van der Poel did finish :p

Greg LeMond in 1983, with Adrie van der Poel in second.

Man that was stupid!

Basically every major country (except Belgium but that was coincidence instead of tactic) screwed up :d

Denmark, France, Germany, France, the Netherlands, France, Spain, France, Italy, France, Australia and France all had incredibly weird tactics that messed up all of their chances.

What an incident filled championship for the Dutch. Bird attacks, mechanicals, broken elbows, nightly arrests. And all that in a team of like 10 people.

Overall the two best riders did win both road races. One at the very end of a dominant career, the other just at the beginning of one.

Juraj Sagan officially ended his career in this race, After being 200km part of the leading group (just like in Tokyo Olympics) he abandoned the race few km later and officially confirmed to our TV this was his very last race in his life.

Thus now only one Sagan remains in the peloton, the younger brother Peter, probably until Paris, to have one last dance for Slovakia and one last try to complete his CV with that missing Olympic medal.

    • Oops. I must have misunderstood. I could have sworn I saw her jogging in a field of other men. I assumed she had caught up to some of the slower men. (I admittedly wasn't watching closely.)
    • The women started earlier, it was a race without any men participating.
    • Looking forward to this competition starting tomorrow! Will be nice to see some other countries participate. USA women start with Namibia tomorrow.
    • This came out on the official website yesterday. Updated list of events and competition schedules in Japanese.   Padel and Teqball are on the schedules. Looks like two events for Padel and five for Teqball.   https://www.aichi-nagoya2026.org/files/common/260427競技スケジュール/01_日本語/01_アジア/第20回アジア競技大会競技プログラム.pdf   https://www.aichi-nagoya2026.org/files/common/260427競技スケジュール/01_日本語/01_アジア/第20回アジア競技大会デイリースケジュール.pdf   https://www.aichi-nagoya2026.org/files/common/260427競技スケジュール/01_日本語/01_アジア/第20回アジア競技大会セッションスケジュール.pdf   On the sports programme PDF, Padel is #25 and Teqball is #38.
    • looks like the agreement is the international federations are in fact hosting the event, not the AG organizers, so everything is up to them to make it happen.   Teqball is now confirmed to have 5 events (singles and doubles) does it mean easy 5 gold medals for Thailand ?   Padel is not 100% confirmed yet. I assume there are still talks ongoing between the IF and the Japanese organizers.
    • I feel like this year's Eurovision is more wide open than ever 😂   There isn't a clear favorite, and that makes everything more exciting. Finland is looking strong, sure, but Ukraine always knows how to surprise people and connect with them. I was checking out the odds a bit, and I was struck by how quickly they're rising.   By the way, I found a site that compares the odds pretty clearly: https://casasdeapuestaseurovision.com/   It’s nothing special, but it gives you an idea of how things are shaping up before the semifinals. Although we all know how this goes… at Eurovision, everything can change in a matter of minutes
