I somehow stumbled across all the results for the 2017 Winter Military Games today, so I can cross those off my list of results I’m after.

@heywoodu Any clue why none of the South American biathletes attended the games?

For most of them I'd suggest it is because they aren't in the military, but Fabrizio Bourguignon of Brazil definitely is. Although he may have just focused on the regular IBU Cup season and gone home then. The Brazilian federation is all about letting athletes compete in the IBU Cup (where the federation collects money for every start), less about paying all kinds of special stuff like going to the Winter Military Games :p

As for Chile, Juan Agurto is in the military, but there as well I'm not sure whether time and such allowed for a trip to an event like this.

The only reason I asked is because they had made an effort to compete at  previous editions.

I feel like this is the event (outside of an Olympic appearance) they should target. Generally, the field for these Games isn’t the strongest, and they could place well.

I will say, one thing that is awesome about the Biathlon competition at the Winter Military World Games is that the Military Patrol event is still on the program

The next edition of the WMWG is scheduled for March 2021, but I’m almost certain they will be cancelled.

It's more about money than about placing well though. IBU Cup starts = money.

Another one bites the dust! 4th CISM Winter Military Games are postponed. No new dates given yet. My guess is that it would have to be December 2021, March 2022, or winter 2022/2023.

Just found this awesome promo for the 2011 Asian Winter Games today.

I would have really liked to see Kazakhstan host the 2022 Winter Olympics. They have some of the most picturesque and unique winter sports venues in the world. This video only makes me want a Winter Olympics in Kazakhstan more :(

CACSO, now named Centro Caribe Sports, confirmed they have no oficial bidders for 2022, although some countries have made informal contacts.

The limit to confirm interest will be November 15. 2020
