Grand Slam (Baku, AZE)

 

Day #3 Recap

 

5 different Countries won the 5 weight categories held today in the final day of the GS tournament in Baku...

 

among the Ladies, in the -78kg there was an all :GER German Gold Medal match, where Luise Malzahn defeated Anna Maria Wagner, meanwhile in the +78kg class, it was :UKR Ukraine to gain the top prize (thanks to Yelyzaveta Kalanina)...

 

in the men's division, today's headlines are for :SRB Serbia (Nemanja Majdov, -90kg), :NED Netherlands (Michael Korrel, -100kg) and :GEO Georgia (Gela Zaalishvili, +100kg)...

 

Because of those results, after 3 days of exciting (and sometimes funny, really funny :lol:) action, :JPN Japan and :BRA Brazil won the medal table with 2 Gold Medals each, followed by :AZE Azerbaijan, :ISR Israel, :MDA Moldova, :FRA France , :GER Germany, :UKR Ukraine, :SRB Serbia, :NED Netherlands, :GEO Georgia and :ESP Spain with 1 Gold Medal each...

Grand Prix (Hohhot, CHN)

 

Day #1 Recap

 

The Koreans totally dominated the first day of action at the Chinese Grand Prix...

 

in absence of many of the main fighters in each class, the :KOR South Korean men won the Gold Medal in both the weight categories contested earlier today...

Kim Won Jin won the -60kg class, meanwhile Kim Lim Hwan won the -66kg class...

 

among the women, 3 weight categories were completed on Friday...and in this case it was :PRK North Korea to take the major honors with 2 Gold Medals (Jon Yu Sun, -48kg and Kim Jin A, -57kg), while the only :JPN Japanese girl at the start, Uta Abe, won the Gold Medal in the remaining class, the -52kg...

 

so, at the end of day #1, :PRK North and :KOR South Korea share the lead in the medal table with 2 Gold Medals each, followed by :JPN Japan with "only" 1 Gold Medal...

there's strange incident happened in men' -81 kg for our athlete Mohamed Abdelaal , well he didn't show up against Saied Mollaei then only after 30 minutes he played against Briand Ettiene from Canada and defeated him 10-1 , so i wonder what was the actual reason for his withdrawal against Mollaei @MHSN do u know anything about this match ?

no idea :mumble: our judo federation is not that good in covering the news. they just say Mollaei beat his Egyptian opponent and I assume they just follow the live scores like us.

not sure if you are watching the live stream for the final block but they mentioned it. he was in warmup area and missed the call for his match vs Mollaei ! :facepalm:

A more well spread distribution of Gold medals characterized the second day of action at the Chinese Grand Prix...

 

in the men's division, :AZE Hidayat Heydarov went back to back in the -73kg, doubling up the home success a few weeks ago in Baku with today's triumph in Hohhot...

meanwhile the reigning World Champion :IRI Saeid Mollaei returned on top of the podium after quite a while in the -81kg class...

 

among the women, today's Gold medals went to :GER Martyna Trajdos in the -63kg class and to one of the very few Japanese girls at the start, :JPN Saki Niizoe, in the -70kg category...

 

so, at the end of day #2, 3 Nations (:PRK North Korea, :KOR South Korea and :JPN Japan) share the lead in the medal table with 2 Gold Medals each, followed by :AZE Azerbaijan, :GER Germany and :IRI Iran with "only" 1 Gold Medal...

They won 2 more Gold Medals in the men's division, thanks to :KOR Cho Gu Ham in the -100kg and :KOR Kim Min Jong in the +100kg...

the remaining men's Gold went to :JPN Japan (Kenta Nagasawa in the -90kg class)...

 

among the women, today's Gold medals went to :FRA Fanny Estelle Posvite in the -78kg class and to :CUB Idalys Ortiz, in the +78kg category...

 

so, at the end of the tournament, :KOR South Korea won the medal table with 4 Gold Medals, followed by :JPN Japan with 3 and :PRK North Korea with 2...

meanwhile :AZE Azerbaijan, :CUB Cuba, :FRA France, :GER Germany and :IRI Iran won 1 Gold Medal each...
