After Lakers got rid of Westbrook they predictably got better. The Kyrie Irving experiment in Dallas is a complete dumpster fire (also predictable) and Mavericks could even miss the play-in :coffee: Three games to go and they can only finish 40-42 IF they win all three...

Sacramento Kings made the playoffs to snap the longest post-season drought in all US major pro leagues (since 2006). The new masters of futility are NY Jets of NFL (last playoffs in 2010).

Mavericks will miss the playoffs. They didn't even want to compete for the play-in as Doncic played 13 mins in a must-win game vs Bulls :p They still needed to win their last game and count for Oklahoma loss but why bother? Kyrie Irving can and probably will leave after the season so this mini-experiment turned out to be a complete failure. Zero defense still means minimal chances for success in modern NBA, just ask the Rockets...

Chinese media reported that China is making effort to neutralize Kyle Anderson and he is also willing to accept the offer. Kyle Anderson has 1/8 Chinese blood heritage and that’s the reason why he’s selected by Chinese association. If everything progresses smoothly, he will play World Cup for China and the ultimate purpose is earning Olympic berth on World Cup with his participation.

NBA Play-In Tournament began last night with Atlanta beating Miami and the Lakers toppling the Timberwolves to clinch the 7 seed in their respective conferences.

Despite the losses, the season is not done for the Heat and Wolves. They will get one more chance to advance on Friday against the winners of today's games.

#8 seed Miami Heat take out #1 Milwaukee Bucks 4-1 in East Round 1 :coffee: It feels like Giannis needs a new team around him and maybe a new coach...

He always said he will stay at Milwaukee for his entire career, so we will see. He does not have the arrogance of Lebron James to "take his talents to South Beach" for example and create a super team in a "nicer" city like Los Angeles.

I mean they had a bad series against the Heat now, but they still finished the regular season as #1 in the East, it's not like they were horrible all year long or something (like the Dallas Mavericks were).

I didn't want to imply Giannis needs to move into another team, just bring in new guys to Milwaukee. East is still relative easier than West IMO even though Heat or Celtics look legit overall. Sixers are a coin toss again. Nets have blown it up and nobody should take Knicks seriously.

Obviously LeBron was frustrated during the first time with Cavs. It was just him and a bunch of goons. Even worse than some of the Allen Iverson Sixers teams.

Okay but Iverson got to play for one season with the GOAT Efthimios Rentzias, who averaged a whole 1.5 ppg during his one season with the 76ers :d

Whoa! That's one name I haven't heard in years. Probably one of the few Europeans big who were actually worse than the legend of Zan Tabak  This being said Cezary Trybański aka the first Pole in NBA was even worse :coffee:

    • Though I did just see that today's race isn't valid for FIS points.
    • Let's not act as if these things never happen before. Serbia's cross-country skiing drama a week before the Olympic qualifying for Beijing ended: FIS | Cross-Country Results - Zlatibor (SRB) 2021/2022   Drndic with a DNF, despite being - on paper at least - the best athlete. She didn't just 'not finish', she stepped out barely 50 meters before the finish, because if finishing, the points for her competitor would have been better due to the way points are calculated. Ended up with lots and lots of yelling and screaming and fighting and cursing, DNS the next day and in the end Serbia sent none of them.   This is not a shit move by Canada, this is a fault of the system at most.
    • Yes agreed, resetting it would help make it more dramatic as no one would be running away with it. We could also set it that there is a small reward for ranking higher after each round… maybe they start the next round with a “head start” so they bring a few points into the next round? But starting from scratch each round might be cleaner
    • I like the concept a lot. My only worry would be that the nations doing the best individually would also end up at the top here as teams are only made up of pairs. Whereas in a bigger team it gives the nations not doing so well individually to have another chance if they are lucky enough to be placed in a good team. Any way we can balance it?
    • I thought about accumulating, but for higher drama it may be reset like in cycling track elimination races
    • Those are the national junior championships, national championships are in Steinkjer, starting tomorrow: FIS | Steinkjer (NOR) - Event Details - Cross-Country
    • Nice for them, but also kind of too bad they pick the exact same two as last time. Would have been nice to see Regina Martinez for example (although I'm not sure that would have been logistically possible, depending on how they're going to do the flag bearer thing in the first place).
