April 2024 Olympic Qualification Events

 

There’ll also be various athletics and swimming meets (as if you reach the swimming OQS throughout the qualification period all you have to do is finish top two at Olympic Trials in May to secure your spot on the team)

 

Beach Volleyball - Norceca Continental Tour Punta Cana (April 4-8, counts towards qualification for the Norceca Olympic Qualification Tournament Finals)

Sailing - Princess Sofia Regatta (April 1-6, 2/2 events for ICLA 6/49er Olympic team selection, 2/2 events for ICLA 7/iQFoil Olympic team selection pending qualification, and 1/2 events for women’s kiteboarding Olympic team selection), Semaine Olympique Francaise (April 18-27)

Track Cycling- UCI Nations Cup Milton (April 12-14, final event counting towards the Olympic Ranking)

Shooting - Pan American Rifle & Pistol Championships (April 2-7, 2024), Final Rifle & Pistol World Olympic Qualifier (April 11-19), Final Shotgun World Olympic Qualifier (April 23-30)

Weightlifting - IWF World Cup Phuket (March 31- April 11), final event counting towards the Olympic Ranking)

Fencing - Pan American Olympic Qualifier (April 6-7)

Taekwondo - Pan American Olympic Qualifier (April 9-10)

Archery - American Championships (April 10-14)

Table Tennis - Mixed Doubles World Olympic Qualifier (April 11-12)

Athletics - Race Walking Team World Championships (April 20-21)

Canoe Sprint - Canadian National Team Trials 1 (April 1-4, counts towards Olympic team selection), Sprint Canoeing American Olympic Qualifier (April 23-25)

Because the team that is in the semi finals won't have enough points to overtake another team? Is that it? It doesn't appear that the semi finals have started yet.

Lol I’m watching the semifinals now, Chiu/Gai won and Lindeman/Wu lost.

Looks like it’ll be 0-2 in the race to Paris against our American counterparts, this time an exit in the semifinals of women’s doubles. Just three years ago we qualified a full team, oh times have changed.

One of the worst days of the Olympic qualification period from my perspective…

 

Not even a full team in men’s and women’s sprint would make up for this disaster. I’m done. 
 

BTW, although Xu/Xu and Chiu/Gai were ahead of the Canadian pairs in the Olympic Ranking heading into this event that’s pretty much due to the fact that they were competing at most of the BWF events on the calendar unlike the Canadians (Their athletes probably have more funding than ours I’m assuming). They’d lose early most of the time, but occasionally they’d make it past a couple of rounds. Also can I just mention that we won all four gold medals last year. That tells you all you need to know…

    • I have a time slot 16th of April, but my girlfriend doesn't . So you're not the only one ... Hopefully there are some tickets left when I enter the ticketshop.
    • Because of the continued uncertainty in the Gulf, the Doha Diamond League has been reorganised to the 19th June, in between Oslo and Paris.  Shanghai on 16 May will therefore be the first DL meet of the season.     WDL meeting in Doha postponed until June - Wanda Diamond League
    • Update after Matchdays 8 and 9.   Group A:  is almost a lock with 21p, and 7 games 7 wins. Almost impossible for them to not qualify. The battle is in the second place between  (16p) and  (13p).  with 8p is almost out.  and  eliminated.   Group B:  won both of the 2 games so is almost secured with 19p.  is second with 14p, with  (1 more game played) and  with 11p.  is eliminated and  practically too (6p)   Group C:  went 2 out of 2 so they are still first with 16p and one game less than the rest. The battle for second place will be between  14p,  11p and  9p.  eliminated and  (with one game less and 4p) probably too.   Group D: Only 3 for 2 places.  first with 19p has the advantage, but coming close is  with 16p. They played each other in the Matchday 11 of 12. Coming in third behind is  with 11p. ,  and  eliminated.   Group E: Both  and  won both matches so its still the same, Poland first with 24p and Italy second with 21p, which is the best runner-up and also qualifying directly, so is very likely that both teams end up qualifying no matter who finish first and second. , ,  and  eliminated.   Group F: A tie between  18p and  18p. Germany has the goal advantage (+21 to +20), and has to play the three weaker teams, so its more likely to qualify. Coming behind are  with 10p and  with 9p, which are practically eliminated with  and   Group G:  takes the advantage with 12p and one game less.  and  both have 7p, and coming behind are  5p (but one game less) and  with 5p.   Group H:  with the win against  moved to first place with 13p (and one game less), and Turkey stays in second with 11p.  is coming in third with 8p, while  is eliminated and  have 3p and one game less.   Group I: A triple tie between ,  and  with 10p. Belgium have the advantage because they have the best head to head points and one game less. Austria is second in the H2H difference and Denmark is third but with also one game less.  have 6p and  is eliminated.   The next 3 and last matchdays will define the 10 qualified teams and the 8 that will go to the playoffs. Matchdays will be 24-26 September, 28Sep-1Oct and 5-6 October, 2026.
