Doping Cases and Bans 2019 Thread

Recommended Posts

Now I have to admit that I don’t understand why people have turned their attention to Bolt and gone after him. There is no evidence to suggest he participated in a doping scheme or anything of the sort. Going after Briana and Coleman I get but Bolt I don’t understand. With the amount of retesting on samples that has been done on the last few Olympics there is there is little chance he was doping.

Because he did insane things and was the absolute moneymaker of everything athletics. People watched athletics because of Bolt, people went to stadiums because of Bolt, no matter the ticket costs. Not saying he doped or something, I have no clue, but it's not like there would be no reason to kinda help cover something up or help stay under the radar.

And yet, we will not see a sanction to US Track & Field... IAAF's double standards, covering English world athletes. I wouldn't be surprised that a few years from now the likes of Bolt & Farah are uncovered as cheaters.

well, all the Salazar gang up in Oregon has always been more than suspicious...he's well known to play dirty with rules and products he gives to his pupils (yesterday they were Farah and the US middle distance specialists who used to be almost as good as Farah himself and the Africans, nowadays is the Hassan/Klosterhalfen duo, who were just good but now they're a lap ahead of people like Dibaba and the other flying Ethiopians, already suspect enough by themselves)...

and the Jamaican wonders (Bolt included) have always been related to coach Seagrave (who was the mastermind behind the Ben Johnson's "project")...

so, those are the "facts", the "dangerous relationships" in the small world of top athletics...

then, everybody can think what they want...we're still in a free world (most of us, at least)...

see my previous post...

I guess just those 2/3 "dangerous relationships" are a good enough reason to have bad thoughts about all this "world"...

Guys, there are just discussion without any proof. I honestly do not believe that Bolt has ever used any shit on purpose. We would have to be saying that everyone who is world class athletes dops? Anyone who breaks a world record dops? That is just nonsense. Let them be .....

One guy from WADA, forgot the name, said couple months ago that the current status of doping tests is that they catch those "stupid users" who are not careful enough and those, who really use some crap for years and keep winning, might be far ahead the current technology. But of course, this might be just a hoax. But who knows......

Isn't that always the case though? How many times throughout the years have we heard 'now it's really better!' until some new scandal pops up and the whole thing repeats..

Bolt could the best in more ways then one. The Lance for the next generation.

The difference with Lance was that everyone knew, but they could never catch. As I said, with the amount of retesting that has been done on Rio 2016 and London 2012 samples, there’s almost no way Bolt was cheating. Just because someone is the best in a sport/event doesn’t automatically make them a doper.

In the times when he was dominating, the general consensus among fans was not 'he is doping', but 'he is incredibly good'.

    • Let's not act as if these things never happen before. Serbia's cross-country skiing drama a week before the Olympic qualifying for Beijing ended: FIS | Cross-Country Results - Zlatibor (SRB) 2021/2022   Drndic with a DNF, despite being - on paper at least - the best athlete. She didn't just 'not finish', she stepped out barely 50 meters before the finish, because if finishing, the points for her competitor would have been better due to the way points are calculated. Ended up with lots and lots of yelling and screaming and fighting and cursing, DNS the next day and in the end Serbia sent none of them.   This is not a shit move by Canada, this is a fault of the system at most.
    • Yes agreed, resetting it would help make it more dramatic as no one would be running away with it. We could also set it that there is a small reward for ranking higher after each round… maybe they start the next round with a “head start” so they bring a few points into the next round? But starting from scratch each round might be cleaner
    • I like the concept a lot. My only worry would be that the nations doing the best individually would also end up at the top here as teams are only made up of pairs. Whereas in a bigger team it gives the nations not doing so well individually to have another chance if they are lucky enough to be placed in a good team. Any way we can balance it?
