A German speed skater being caught and still it's not Pechstein :p

Patrick Beckert, Moritz Geisreiter, Joel Dufter or Nico Ihle.

It is my understanding that it is not necessarily the 2018 Olympics. As the blood doping in question took playe between 2011 and 2019, also Sochi is possible.

Adding Samuel Schwarz, Robert Lehmann and Alexej Baumgärtner. All rather unimpressive, so that would mostly be a case of 'oh, ok'.

According to ARD and Deutschlandfunk (German Broadcating Stations) at least one German athlete is among the 21 blood dopers: A male speed skater who competed at the Olympics.

Hopefully not Dufter, otherwise they can shut speed skating down completely.

Attachment is the great fabricator of illusions; reality can be obtained only by someone who is detached.

Also surprising that we still havent heard any more news about the dutch athletes with suspicious blood values that ARD mentioned during the world cup final. I guess when you are from the country that owns speed skating, you dont have to worry about anything ...

Yes, according to the recent reports in the early 2000's around 90 times speed skaters - not known how many different skaters, but 5 or 6 of them Dutch - were 'warned' by the ISU, by sending a doping control officer to the skater when they had 'bad' blood values. Blood values couldn't result in a ban, so sending a DCO was a way of saying "hey, stop and take care" and magically, the blood values went down immediately after the DCO visit.

This all is mostly based on the words of Harm Kuipers, former member of ISU's medical commission, by the way.

Isn't blood doping more helpful in endurance competitions? I don't know how it is with 500 metres and 1000 metres in Speed Skating, but normally I'm not associating blood doping with sprint.

Trainings are a lot longer than a little over a minute though, with blood doping one can imagine also a sprinter can train significantly longer and harder.

Beckert is actually from Erfurt (and he's a long distance specialist)...

and Ihle is from Chemnitz (still the old "East Germany")...

imho those 2 have more chances to be involved in this scandal (even because they got the best results among those in the list)...:mumble:

And Geisreiter had one super magical race and apart from that not much, one might see that as suspicious. And Baumgärtner is born in Russia :p

Beckert kept skating and also posting his results including analysis and everything as always,  also after that police raid in Austria and Germany. Doesn't sound very suspicious.

blood doping helps recovery...

also those involved in the BALCO scandal, despite being all of them sprinters and throwers (Marion Jones, Dwayne Chambers, CJ Hunter) used to have blood treatment to increase the work rate during trainings...
