I understand that some sports aren't as popular as others, but Canada should be able to afford to at least send a team to the World Championships without forcing the athletes to pay.

New snatch PR for Maude Charron in women’s 59kg, with 106kg! 236kg in total, which is not only a new PB, but also a new Canadian record!

Unfortunately it looks like her chance for a medal will be somewhat less likely than Tokyo, as assuming Luo Shifang’s injury isn’t too serious, China will select this weight category as one of their three.

She might not win gold, but a medal is quite possible. She's currently 3rd in the rankings

Oh for sure, but what I’m trying to say is that if China chooses this as one of their weightclasses, gold would be untouchable and only silver/bronze would be the only medals up for grabs. Without China, the event is wide open.

    • Yeah. It was pretty bad that they cancel the contract with the original creative director after 7 months of work. I feel like politics, in this particular context of the changing of prime minister and the cabinet, may had caused changes in organizational decisions regarding the Sea Games including the direction of the opening ceremony.
    • That's what I figured.  Wouldn't be a proper lead up to an Olympics without some media-fueled fearmongering.
