For the frist time after 41 years two Italian are in the quarterfinals in Montecarlo

This is how the most important Italian sport newspaper, Gazzetta dello Sport, put this news on the frist page, what shame  They put the photo of Norrie instead than Sonengo's photo... Poor guy

who would have predicted that Monte Carlo final will be between Fognini and Lajovic , for me Fognini's victory over Nadal is one of the biggest upsets in sports this year

And Fognini won the Montecarlo Master  It's one of the best tournament since I follow the Italian tennis, just behind the US Open 2015 where the final was Pennetta against Vinci!

Damn, when i had time and watched tennis more seriously, such things didn't happen.  And Monte-Carlo is not your typical place for upsets. I should have followed it more closely this week. :d Think thing are looking good for Federer, when he steps on the clay.

  • 3 weeks later...

Kiki Bertens won the title and made Dutch tennis history :hyper:

Biggest Dutch tournament win (women) since Kea Bouman won Roland Garros in 1927 (!) and she's the highest placed ever female Dutch player on the world ranking now...4th, breaking Betty Stöve's record of 5th from 1977
