Reading „Igniting The Games” by David Miller now.

 

a good book imo but looks like an author loves Mr. Bach a bit too much

I read Wallechinsky olympic books again and again and i am so sad that there were no new editions after 2012.

 

If i were a young, aspiring journalists i would contact people who were responsible for those books and offered them my contribution to do the 2012-2022 olympics update... if you reach some agreement on this, it's a good way to start to make your name known.

 

But i'm not a journalist

The writing of the 2014 book was up to the same standard as before but the publishers were incompetent and made a horrible mess of formatting the book.

 

Also in 2016 "David Wallechinsky has confirmed that, for the first time since 1984, he will not be publishing a new version of The Complete Book of the Olympics on the eve of the Summer Games - and added that writing what has become established as one of sport’s set texts is “no longer cost-effective.”

I haven't read it yet but David Maraniss is a brilliant writer. His book on the Rome Olympics was superb
