Some indian students are appealing for help since they are not being allowed by the ukrainians to cross the border to Poland, the reason being given is that because india sided with russia despite the fact that india is actually neutral as shown by their abstaining in the un resolution.

I have seen some videos of Indian students alleging discrimination from Ukrainian official but I would personally give them benefit of doubt because of the volatile situation. I think the reality is a combination of many different things, where some official must be angry at India and discriminated against some students, tense students mistaking the delay as discrimination and a variety of other issues.

The indian embassy requested help from Hungary to evacuate 950 students. The first group arrived yesterday:

There are an estimated 15-20K Indians stuck in Ukraine. Indian embassies are working really hard to evacuate all of them. And from all accounts, we are receiving exemplary support from all the neighbours, Poland, Hungary, Romania and Slovakia. We are thankful to all of you. Till now around 1000 Indians have been rescued.

Ukraine mentioned Bratislava as one of the places they want for the negotiations

Now that seems like an actually reasonable option. Not at all a country that is 'too western' (like, say, Germany), but also not a party in this conflict (like UKR, RUS, BLR). I hope this will be accepted...soon!

Negotiation should be in a neutral place so eu/nato countries, us/canada/israel, russia/belarus and armenia/azerbaijan/central asia should be out of the equation. Maybe some random midle east country would do.

Ukraine also mentioned Baku, for me it's quite fair and showing good faith. It's definitely acceptable for Russia. But there is a but. It's first publicly mentioned by Ukraine so if Russia accepts it would be seen as cowardice and compromise. If they exchange views under the table the thing will be easier.  Well let's see how it goes. We all want it happen as soon as possible and no more deaths.

The negotiation is kinda pointless at this point, Russia wants the current leadership gone or at least to prosecute a couple of Ukrainian leaders for crime against Russians, plus they want to dismantle Ukrainian military and ensure that Ukraine stays out of NATO and the EU. Zelensky will never sign that treaty. The only way there will be peace if the Russians capture Zelensky and put a pro-Russian Ukrainian in charge.

Which will just mean another Maidan revolution!

Yep, but you gotta start somewhere...

Obviously the main and really only point should be for Russia to retreat and that's it. Russia doesn't have any right whatsoever to ask for anything here, let alone make any demands.

But yeah, that obviously won't happen.

    • Some notable  retirements:   Elisavet Pesiridou (athletics - 100m hurdles) - She announced her retirement on her 34th birthday. She competed in Rio 2016 and Tokyo 2020. She narrowly missed Paris 2024 despite being in good form, the rest of he field seemed to get stronger and her ranking was a bit lower even though she was quite consistent. She struggled with injuries in 2025.   Fani Tzeli (taekwondo) - She was 7th in Tokyo 2020 but didn't qualify for Paris 2024. Still, she is only 24 yo and seemed to be rising up again after winning bronze at the European Championships so it is a bit surprising.   Aikaterini Divari (sailing) - She competed in Tokyo 2020 but didn't qualify for Paris 2024. Only 25 yo.   AJ Ginnis (alpine skiing) - Despite winning a silver at the World Championships he never got to compete at the Winter Olympics as he was always unfortunately injured. A shame as he is by far our best winter athlete ever. Only 31 yo, and I have a feeling he might come back in 2030 based on his last interview...

    • Well.  Having gotten it a bit at a distance a few comments about my experiences   Travel: Very happy. Flying to and from was a breeze (the plane home slighty delayed). The same can be said about getting around in Milano. Getting around outside was of course slightly harder, especially with some delays back from Antholx (but i guess that's not a big surprise when a lot of people leave a place in the mountains)   Atmosphere: Very happy around the venues, but it's also very clear that it's smaller than the Summer games. People weren't following the events wherever you went. Alcohol certainly made a difference between Paris and now. Sadly did experience a few who should certainly have stopped a couple of beers earlier.    The logistics at the venues:  Very easy to see that Santagiulia is new and absolutely not a perfect venue. Seems like some kinks were fixed when I got there, but there's still stuff to work out. The food at the Milano venues were meh and there were quite some lines. Tesero was a chaos when it came to getting food, but the quality was slightly better at the skiing venues.
