3/5 relays qualified on day 1, which I think is a great day in the office. The two relays that were expected to qualify day 1 (men's 4x100m and women's 4x400m) made it, and we had a somewhat unexpected day 1 qualification from the women's 4x100m.

Hoping at least one of the men's or mixed 4x400m can qualify tomorow.

6th for our men’s 4x400m relay. HORRID 1st leg by White, and it pretty much botched our chances. Arop and Morales-Williams had great 2nd and 3rd legs to try and bring us into contention, but too much of a gap to make up. Our 4th leg Misner-Daley had a good opening 250m or so, but faded badly near the end.

Should Canada focus their strongest  athletes on the mixed or the men’s 400 tomorrow ?

Men’s. Mixed has a much stronger chance of qualifying through the Road To Paris Rankings.

It looked like MMD may have stopped running fast after knowing he'd not be in the top 2. But I wish he did, since the US was disqualified

Where are we sitting in the rankings for mixed?

Not very high actually. But with Constantine, Gale/Sutherland, Arop, Morales-Williams we’d have a good shot at it, assuming all of the top teams qualify through this event.

Do you think he could have caught Germany though?

    • Also it being illegal in France means the IOC will have to test everyone pre arriving at 2030 and can’t wait till they arrive at the Games to do so. I’m sure at 2028 for some sports testing will happen on site if it’s not a rule of its governing body for non Olympic events. So far only a few sports like Athletics and Boxing have that rule - I suspect others will adopt it but others might take time.
    • https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/olympics/articles/cpwj78lxypro ‘In France - one of a number of countries where genetic testing is illegal without a medical prescription due to privacy laws - the government has condemned the decision as "a step backwards". "It defines the female sex without taking into account the biological specificities of intersex individuals, whose sexual characteristics present natural variations, leading to a reductive and potentially stigmatising approach," claimed French Sports Minister Marina Ferrari.”   ‘A group of legal experts in human rights and sports have since expressed, external"urgent concern" about what they called "the regressive move toward genetic testing as a precondition of participation in women's sport" which they say "violate domestic and international laws that protect human rights and regulate the use of genetic testing and genetic information".  The group has called on athletes "to challenge the national or regional implementation of mandatory genetic sex testing, demanded by the IOC or international federations, before domestic courts, by invoking national or regional laws protecting human rights, prohibiting anti-discrimination, and regulating the use of genetic testing and genetic data".’   Domestic laws are more challenging for the IOC to deal with than CAS. Things could get complicated for a bit.
    • Except NOC’s and governing bodies have to still follow local laws. Particularly for Under 18’s there could certainly be domestic legal issues regarding associations paying for travel to other counties to circumvent a domestic ban. Child protection services don’t always act reasonable to attempts to break a domestic law.
