Doping Cases and Bans in 2022

Footballer Fahad Al-Muwallad has been taken out of the Saudi team for the World Cup 'as a precaution' due to a doping violation.

Footballer Mario Vuskovic of Hamburger SV has tested positive for EPO, and with that also failed the "Is your IQ a positive number?" test.

Two hits in a sport with relatively speaking as good as no testing. Not bad.

:ITA Simone Sabbioni (Swimming) got a 20-month ban (starting from 23 March 2022) because of whereabouts rules infringement (3 missed tests).

  • 2 weeks later...

"Calm before the storm" in Hungary, three unnamed athletes are under the suspicion of doping, apparently they are swimmers and wrestlers. Sources say that one of them is a famous Hungarian Olympic swimmer. Now the guessing game begins until the athletes are suspended....

Hopefully not, you know, the most famous Hungarian Olympic swimmer, because that would be devastating for the entire Olympic team.

It's not Kristof Milak because he's currently competing

The athletes that are under suspicion haven't been suspended yet, the investigation is still ongoing, they are free to compete for now. 2 swimmers and 1 wrestler. WADA noticed irregulates in their biological passport, we don't know when the investigation will be over.

    • Hope so (for my adopted country, Norway, that is). Torino 2006 was the first Winter Olympics I followed closely and it was nothing short of a disaster for Norway. Strangely enough, that was actually the reason I became an avid fan of Norwegian winter sports and have been ever since. As for my actual home country, Greece, a medal for Ginnis in slalom (alpine skiing) would be a miracle.
