Uber shit show from Sharapova & Schnyder

Schynder hit her first winner at 2-5 down in the second set. Sharapova tried to make it exciting with a ton of errors where she should have closed it out with ease.

Cirstea next ;)

Both Schnyder and Radwanska suffered their first ever lost in a US Open first round. Schnyder had a 14-0 record and Radwanska had a 12-0. Interesting enough, Maria Sharapova who beat Schnyder in first round is still unbeaten in US Open first round. She now has a 12-0 record. Three other women in this edition is still unbeaten in first round: Venus Williams now has a 20-0 record, Serena Williams 18-0 and Victoria Azarenka 11-0.

This year's US open has not been very WTA. Though the only top 20 player who is out after first round is the number 1 seeded.  WTA strikes again :p

A quick bet: How many players will retire, because of the heat or an injury in today's matches?

My bet is 6

I would say 6 too (after edit). The tough ones survived the first round.
