Sorry I had to pick my country :NZL. We have great chances in womens snowboard slopestyle, big air and mens freeski half pipe. But our winter olympics history is littered with 4ths and 5ths and these are mainly sports down to judges. A lot of the time it can be out of your hands. The great irony in this however is that on the other hand we have more gold medal favs going on current form than Australia.

I think only biased judges can stop Nico Porteous from winning 1 (if not 2) medals...

and you also have some more chances in the other freestyle (snowboard) HP/SS/BA events (and maybe even Alice Robinson in Alpine Skking -GS- could upset a few people)...

imho, Liechtenstein is the only Nation of the list not going anywhere this time...

Belgium, Ukraine and Spain are really at risk because they have just 1 or 2 true chances...

all the remaining Nations will surely get at least a medal...

+ Alice Robinson in GS may very well surprie (and it would not be a so big surprise though)

Australia has a definite chance in monobob. ;)

they have at least 10 chances, imho...

women's skeleton, snowboardcross, HP/SS/BA in both freestyle and snowboard, moguls, women's aerials...

I doubt they will miss out in all of them...

The only event Ukraine have a chance to medal is Aerials. Novosad won a Women's Aerials  WC this season where fellow Ukrainian finished 3rd. Defending Olympic champion Abramenko has been there and there about in top 6.

The ski speed has gone in biathlon so maybe a 0+0 in relay with other teams struggling, again not very likely.

Ukraine had 5 podium this season in 3 different sports, and 1 victory. If we exclude monobob where they won some B-events, Ukraine had some medal chances in the aerials

freestyle, aerials events (men's above all)...

Ah yeah, I don't watch aerials. Makes sense. Thank you!

Okay, for now I'll stick with my vote for :UKR as it's a jury sport in China with Chinese medal favorites.

:KAZ have had podiums in Moguls and Aerials but none of them have been dominant ones. Zhanbota tried the difficult jumps only in Almaty last year the only time she got a 100 pointer otherwise it's in 80s..  So that is going to be very difficult for all of those.

Kolmakov is their biggest hope I do believe, sure, not the most safe medal contender but for me in a good "crazy" day may surprise no one, already in PC 2018 he was so close and so unlucky. would be a great story to medal here

Women's skeleton is a bit optimistic. Surely Naracott has finished the season in great fashion but she hasn't been nowhere near this level ever before. 14th (+2''64) in the test event (though it was an in October and even Bos was way off the pace then).

Women's monobob is another story ... Walker will probably be selected and she's been really consistent this year.

:POL and old proverb saying always count on Poland in Ski Jumping

Not this year, I'm afraid. They jump backwards this season.

But I hope I am wrong here, ofc.

    • Yeah. It was pretty bad that they cancel the contract with the original creative director after 7 months of work. I feel like politics, in this particular context of the changing of prime minister and the cabinet, may had caused changes in organizational decisions regarding the Sea Games including the direction of the opening ceremony.
    • That's what I figured.  Wouldn't be a proper lead up to an Olympics without some media-fueled fearmongering.
    • Today : Jordan 3-0 Egypt  This team will surprise us
    • option no.2 for sure, as it's been all this shitstorm organized by the nhl owners through their embedded reporters   ps not that the north american audience looks really aware of the hockey rules and habits outside the nhl (and around their game, too, since they look not to know that just a couple of weeks ago they played 2 nhl matches on an ice sheet of the exact same size of Milan's olympic arena)
    • Are we supposed to take Daly's word for it or is this just public posturing to try and shame the Milan organizers (which they certainly deserve for all the delays) in order to threaten NHL participation?
    • Well that was a disappointing opening ceremony. Not to mention the boss is late too...   Anyway this is another victim of bureaucracy, the initial creative director quit in October and we get this kind of show.   Original plan: https://www.facebook.com/share/v/17EVayTpig/
