The United States has a lot of depth in athletics outside of the race walks, though even that is starting to get developed. So far the only other events which don’t have at least three athletes reaching the standard are men’s hammer throw, men’s javelin, women’s triple jump and women’s javelin.

It is reported that sprinter Hannah Cunliffe may be on the verge of switching to represent Italy,

She has run 10.99 for the 100m this year.

The American could qualify because her great, great grandfather was born in Italy but checks still have to be made.

Are they allowed to go back that far? I though it was just parents and grandparents.

yes, for the Italian law you can go back as long as you want...the only important, fundamental feature is that the full bloodline did never quit the Italian citizenship...

however, also her grandfather by her mother's side was Italian (the bloodline reported by Dragon is her father's side)...

*there is a very hard dispute here in Italy about this advantage that blood heritage has in our laws...many people would like to give an easier route also to the socalled "iure soli", which at the moment has a lot harder requirements to satisfy in order to become Italian (typical situation: a couple coming from outside the EU needs 10 years of continuative residence to earn our citizenship...and their children, if they were born abroad before they came to Italy, can't have the Italian citizenship until their 18th birthday**...and it's not an automatic procedure..they have to ask for the Italian passport)...

**to make a sport related example, that's why Italy couldn't start Mario Balotelli in the Football Olympic Tournament in 2008 (he wasn't 18 yet...and so he didn't have the Italian passport, yet)...

Kenya is about to be declared non-compliant by WADA which could make it go the way of Russia.

    • Netanyahu is bad but unfortunately Hamas helps him maintain power. Every attack they make is a reinforcement of Netanyahu's rhetoric about the country's security, etc. In the fall of 2023, Netanyahu was already losing support and then suddenly a big Hamas attack on a festival near the Gaza Strip. Coincidence? It wouldn`t surprise me at all if Netanyahu knew about the plan for this attack but did nothing so that he would then have the tools to maintain his power. I also remember Ariel Sharon - he was probably even more radical than Netanyahu but he had a brain hemorrhage and fell into a coma.

Apart from he waś there as president of Ukraine and speaking in the Knesset? Nothing. In the power circles in Moscow there were/are many people of Jewish origin and what about that? A large part of the power apparatus of the USSR was based on Jews, especially in the years shortly after WWII.   Instead of constantly writing about Jews, would be better to tell me which country Algeria has better diplomatic relations with: Tunisia or Egypt?
