No Stepanova, great way from IOC to show a completely wrong signal :( Goodbye to anyone else having the courage to be a whistleblower

No Efimova, best news of 2016 :d

It's almost like they don't want to have any more whistle blowers. ;)

And we also set a precedent to ban any allready convicted dopers from the Olympics. Something baddly needed.

You are right! Banned athletes shouldn't be allowed to compete. Gatlin makes me sick.

So, if Russia will not have full ban for what was this circus?

Well the "good" guys tried, but missed. The whole situation of this state doping was for Sochi and it presumably ended after Sochi. So why didn't they demand all russian Sochi athletes to be DQed after those rat holes and whatnot? What has that situation have to do with Rio. Well Summer Games are way bigger than Winter. And they are now, which is huge. They would have made a mockery of Russia in front of the whole world, for something they did in the past. And it failed. I'm sure the higher powers are not happy. Erasing Sochi results won't have the same impact as this full ban would have had.

What about?

Mikhail Pulyaev Judo
Denis Iartcev Judo
Natalia Kondratieva Judo
Yekaterina Valkova Judo

It was decided early that they are clean. Like most of the others with meldonium.

It's about paying for your crimes. Sochi might be done and over but being banned as a nation because as a nation you cheated your way to 13 gold medals would be a fit punishment. It'd send a message that this kind of shit is unacceptable. Going with "what's done is done" is irresponsible sick enabling and a mockery of the effort and sacrifices clean athletes go through during every 4 years cycle.

    • sure! in every Italian bedroom you normally have every kind of table, chairs, furniture, tv screen  to me, this really look an unfinished room, you normally don't see such a sad place even when you buy a new house
    • Canoe Sprint There is a now a cap of 5 athletes per gender in the kayak events (down from 6 in 2024). The World Championships has been replaced by the Olympic Qualification Rankings.   K2 lost 2 boat quotas while K4 has gained 1 boat quota. Quota distribution is quite complicated as it usually is for canoe sprint. They also force nations to compete in a minimum number of events based on the number of athletes qualified; 2 and 3 athletes per boat class must compete in 2 events, 4 must compete in all 3 events and 5 must compete in all 3 events and have two entries in the K1 event.
    • Wrestling will have a completely new format, I do not like the changes. ranking isn't really a good idea in this sport, this will force wrestlers to compete in so many events to collect points. which is not good for their health. specially with the current UWW ranking points distribution system which is plain stupid   they are also gifting 18 quotas to very weak countries by that last qualification event. but I understand their point of view. can't wait to see lots of Russian wrestlers compete for weak countries for that 1 available quota.
    • Canoe Slalom Quotas from men's/women's K1 have been moved to men's/women's KX1. K1 will now have 14 quotas while KX1 will have 10 quotas. C1 remains at 17 quotas. Athletes may participate in other events up to a maximum of 2 athletes per NOC.   The World Championship qualifier has been dropped in favour of the Olympic Qualification Rankings (7 K1, 10 C1, 3 KX1), afterwards you have the Continental Qualifiers (1 per boat) and then a new Global Qualifier (2 per boat).   There were a few changes regarding ways to ensure an athlete can only obtain 1 quota. The biggest being at each stage the boat priority is K1 > KX1 > C1 for the rankings and KX1 > K1 > C1 for the continental/global qualifiers. This basically means if the same athlete qualifiers in multiple boats then the quota will be given to the kayak over canoe.
    • I'll post significant changes periodically. I'll start with the recently added/updated documents.   Archery The addition of mixed compound (12M & 12W) forced a reduction on the recurve side. The mixed compound quotas are distributed as follows   Host - 1 World Championships - 3 Continental Games - 5 World Ranking List - 2 Final Qualifier - 1   To compensate the team events will now only have 8 nations. 2 quotas were removed from the World Ranking List and 2 were removed from the Final Qualifier.   Individual recurve and mixed recurve distribution is the same
