Biathlon IBU World Cup 2021 - 2022

Honestly, I'm in shock.

Being a Lithuanian biathlon fan, I always kept thinking if we're ever going to see anything better than Diana Rasimovičiūtė.

Now, nearly eleven years later, Lithuania is back in the top 10 and it is the highest placement for any Lithuanian biathlete since our independence.

What is even more amazing is that TODAY, January 13th we are celebrating the 31st year of our independence after fourteen brave civilians were crushed underneath Soviet tanks for peacefully defending our TV Tower.

What a day to be alive, I will always be thankful for what Vytautas Strolia did today for biathlon and Lithuania, hopefully, just hopefully he gets to climb onto a podium before he decides to retire. But for today, I'm happy to call him the best biathlete that Lithuania has ever produced in modern biathlon.

I can't even, what a dumb qualification system.

Enough to take over ROU for now, but not enough to take over KAZ.
Now it depends on Wright 🤷🏻‍♂️

i think 6-7 seconds missing 😂

So situation before the last race (Saturday Relay)

Our team did not score any points in the Olympic qualification today, thanks one of the worst sprint of our men in the last years....

The Estonians in the other hand must be actually in the last races under some Asterix and Obelix magic possion or I do not know what is going on here..they even gained up unbelievable 281 points today !!!,

so they flew up from 21st to 19th place one race before the Olympics Qualification end. Their last races are seriously really unbelievable.

Anyway, our other opponent the Japanese were even worst than us, they collected only 93 points, which is far from the top six of their best (counted) sprints. So they still stand 67 points behind us and if they want to push us out of the Top 20, they will need to eliminate the entire gap in the Saturday relay.

:JPN have to end the worst in 10th place. (assuming SVK will not finish better than 16th)

NZ are potentially making an exception here after today.

And could be still not enough

If Wright gets nominated will be very difficult

Eremits (Est) 😳

I think another reallocation place will be available if Germany stays in 3rd position. I doubt that Germany will nominate more than 5 men (unless Zobel having a fantastic pursuit race on Sunday). Sweden will overtake Germany for 3rd place if and only if they win the relay on Saturday (which is totally possible, esp. without Norwegian A team) and Germany finishing 3rd or worse.

    • Ooooooh the group of Canada , they play in Toronto then Vancouver ...look at the distance
    • now the shooting sport takes a little Christmas break and the new season resumes in January with the Asian Championships for the Shotgun specialists ( Doha, Jan. 11th through 22nd)   the World Cup will be back in late March, beginning in  Tangiers (March 25th through April 3rd, Shotgun specialists only)   the Rifle and Pistol specialists will start their new season with the European 10m Championships in  Yerevan (Feb. 27th through March 5th) and the 1st World Cup stage for them will be in  Granada in April (5th through 13th)   300m, 25m and 50m European Champs will be in  Osijek (May 30th through June 21st), meanwhile the Shotgun European Champs will be held in  Athens from Sept. 27th through Oct. 13th

    • USA will.play in California then Seattle then California ...why hell this long distance , teams should stay in 1 place , this is tiring even for spectators
    • so, the 2025 season is officially over, after the World Cup Finals have been completed with the Shotgun events, where (once again!!!) a new format for the final stage of each event has been experimented for the first time (before it becomes a regular feature in the next season)   the new format enlarge the starting field in each event's final stage to 8 shooters and dramatically shortens the number of target shots to decide the placings   the only characteristic remaining is the progressive eliminations principle   now, as written above, 8 shooters make the final, where after only 12 targets the eliminations start: by then, the last 2 shooters must leave the competition (7th and 8th ranked)   after 12 more targets (24 in total), 2 more shooters have to leave the final (5th and 6th ranked)   then, the crazy carousel starts: every 4 targets we have a new elimination  so, after 28 targets, the 4th ranked shooter is done; after 32 targets the bronze medallist is known and after only 36 targets (provided there's no need for a shoot-off), compared to the previous 60, the gold and silver medallists are crowned   I guess the tiktok people with the attention span of a chinchilla have won once again
