The problem is you very often don't react at all and tolerate some posts by certain users (1 or 2 in particular) who are very disrespectful to other users or some sportsmen, but you tend to delete some posts who are just reaction to this kind of behaviour. That's certainly a thing which should be improved.

Ultimately all you can do is use the ignore button; I certainly don't want to see some vast Facebook-style censorship operation on this or any board.

It can give a view but not 100% representative. More posts don't mean more popularity in some sports if these are negative to towards the specific sport..

Plus it also depends on whether there is a “core” or regular user of this community (who post a lot anyway) who is a fan of a particular, less widely followed sport

Even if the posts are negative (see my sport climbing format comments) it actually shows interest (i.e. how to make things better).

It's rather clear women's 3x3 basketball was the least followed sport on TO :p Men's 3x3 escaped that fate due to a) lack of USA b) bitching about Poland's failure :p

And here is the comparison from Rio 2016 :) I've sorted them out by Rio first, so we can make a comparison, what was more popular then. Green means better, red is worse and white is pretty much the same.

Why do the post numbers look like a listing of quotas per sport lol ?

Likewise Trampoline gymnastics. The goal for Paris: get over 30 comments :p In athletics the Barshim/Tamberi/Jacobs gold combo got like 30+ comments in less than 10 minutes :coffee:

Golf improved nicely, but the biggest winners are obviously sailing, triathlon, BMX and rhythmic gymnastics. Artistic swimming saw a good improvement, too.

Rowing and track cycling got somewhat lucky with scheduling. Especially rowing.

Football suffered from morning games (European time).

    • It's all hogwash especially in the short attention span generation. Like nobody cares about Free Tibet anymore either. Free Palestine will last a lot longer due to Saudi Arabia becoming a sponsorship force in sports.   Israel is too weak in soccer to qualify from UEFA zone. The only time they qualified was from the Asian zone and they only beat Australia & New Zealand who were complete nobodies in the 1960s. No such luck in the 60 years since.
    • Oh I assure you FIFA dodger a bullet with Israel not qualifying…   But ya that’s kind of the thing, shut up and dribble is a mantra anti LGBT people have used often. I don’t think it’s hypocritical to remind them of their position
    • Ah, yes but that's not how pro athletes are taught in North America these days? Shut up & dribble is xenophobic, racist or whatever? The hypocrisy of some of these policies were exposed during 2022 World Cup already where the Saudis played it smart and waved their own "Free Palestine' slogans. Forget LGBT rights for a moment, how many 'Free Palestine' flags will be waved in 2026? Or will those be confiscated by default? Somehow I feel this won't be met with similar backlash when China clamped down on 'Free Tibet' in 2008 OG. Saudi Arabia is more important to global markets than Iran & Egypt
