Chinese Olympic trials begins tomorrow. The rules is to choose the any best result of 3 events to compare:

1: 2023 WCH individual event finals and meeting OG standard A

2: 2024 WCH individual event finals and meeting OG standard A

3: 2024 trials individual event finals and meeting OG standard A

So based on the past 2023 and 2024 WCH, following swimmers already have eligible results and green parts are almost safe enough to guarantee the tickets before the trials. For relay swimmers, mainly considering trials results.

The yellow part are still pending either for swimmer's willingness or team's selection.

16 athletes with the A standard, only 4 women and only one of them in a non-freestyle events. Hopefully Germany can improve to at least 24 athletes under the A standard in 2028. Possible contenders (would be great if anyone else could come out of nowhere to qualify):

Men:

50 free: Selin, Salchow, Varjasi

100 free: Salchow, Varjasi, Miroslaw, Armbruster, Wrede, Eidam

200 free: Märtens, Miroslaw, Salchow, Sorgius, A. Schubert, Bäschnitt, Klemet, Peschke, Fritzke

400/800/1500 free: Märtens, Klemet, Schwarz, A. Schubert, Liebmann

100/200 breast: Matzerath, Imodou, De Geus, Biltaev, Engelien, Wendland, Bock, Gräfe

100 back: Passek, Jahn

200 back: Jahn, Büssing, Märtens

100 fly: Armbruster, Kammann, Varjasi, Schulrath, Eidam, Koch

200 fly: L. Schubert

200 IM: Büssing, Wendland, Dramm, Hammer

400 IM: Büssing, Wendland, A. Schubert, Hammer

Women:

50 free: Jazy, Schulze, Holt, Boksca

100 free: Holt, Schulze, Mrozinski, Jazy, Roth

200 free: Gose, Mrozinski, Maier, Holt, Schulze, Roth, Werner

400 free: Gose, Märtens, Werner, Mrozinski, Ackermann

800 free: Gose, Märtens, Werner, Ackermann, Baievych

1500 free: Gose, Märtens, Werner, Ackermann

100 breast: Ludwig, Schneider, Schulze, Elendt

200 breast: Ludwig, Elendt

100 back: Börstler, Seidel, Roth

200 back: Seidel, Werner, Helget

100 fly: Köhler, Baievych, Roth, Vandenhirtz

200 fly: Köhler, Baievych

200 IM: Schulze, Roth, Börstler

400 IM: Benkler, Kohlmann, Baievych

This time there were 13 events (out of 28) where no German athlete achieved the A standard, hopefully this number will be dramatically lower in 2028. Obviously the goal should be to have at least one athlete with the A standard in every event, but sadly that doesn’t seem realistic. Especially women’s 200/400 IM and men’s 200 breast look like lost causes.

Attachment is the great fabricator of illusions; reality can be obtained only by someone who is detached.

    • c'mon! KOR dq in the men's relay is really a farce, a disgrace for the sport...and ITA have nothing to do with that
    • The only ones complaining about the short track refs are Italians, imo. Not even on this forum, but in general, from what I've been seeing on live chats and other social media sites. That says a lot to be honest. I suspect it's partially due to them not performing to the high standard they're expected to perform at especially at the Olympics. The refs make a lot of mistakes for everyone, there's no bias against or towards anyone    Plus, Italy have won 6 medals already.... the most you've won at a Worlds since 2016.
    • For me they gave Canada the gold in the relay in exchange for a 1000-meter dsq gold for Dandjinou, that's how I see it. It was a battle between Kor and Can on 2 of this case. It's hard to say why that last dsq for Kor was in relay? Of course, Italy win bronze thanks for that, but that's not really important. It would have been better if the referees had just stayed out of the results and left it as it was decided for fight on the ice.

    • the quata for europe or australia is from the primer 12, where the top 20 teams will participate, sadly  is the 21th team so the only slight chance for us in my opinion is if: we get top 2 at the european championship (not including  hopefully if they get the quata), then somehow win the final qualification tournament against i assume  and one of    the chances for us are slim, i think about 4 other team sports  have a better chance in in my opinion(and the most team sports we ever had was one, and it was the last two time after a long time )
