Déborah Rodríguez did 2'01.76 at the 800 m semifinals.

Emiliano Lasa did 7.95 m at the long jump, missing the finals by 1 cm!

So sad for Lasa missing the final this time.

I remember seeing him at the 2011 Pan American Games, when his career was just starting, he looked so happy just with reaching the final then.

In athletics, Maria Pía Fernández got injured the day before her heat race. She ran anyway and finished the race.

In sailing, Lola Moreira finished 22nd in the overall rankings, and Defazio/Knüppel finished 18th.

In rugby, Los Teros defeated United States, and qualified to the 2023 World Cup.

In football, the men's team drew Colombia and lost 3-0 to Argentina. Brazil is next.

In handball, the women 's team finished 4th at the South and Central American Championship. Only the top 3 qualified, and out team drew 3rd and 5th place finishers Paraguay and Chile.

In swimming, the men's under-18 waterpolo team is selling lottery tickets to fund their travel to the South American championship. One wonders what's the continental and world federations spending their budget on.

This week it's the Uruguay Open, an ATP Challenger Tour tennis tournament. I may attend tonight. Next week it's the Montevideo Open, a WTA 125k tournament.

On Friday and Saturday it's the Torneo Valentín Martínez, a multi-sport tournament held at Carrasco Polo that will feature the South American Rugby Women's Sevens.

And this weekend it's also the Rutas de América women's cycling stage race.

    • I used to think Johnston(e) - from some place John build (aka stone for building something hehe).   I'm not familiar if Scottish or Irish clans are named after such clan founder or a place?
    • i'm triggered,legitimately thought kennedy 2.0 happened,just way more out of nowhere
    • Perfectly obvious.    Johnson = son of John Johnston or Johnstone = From St John's Town ie Perth in Scotland.
    • Nope. Azu missed out by 0.01. Bromell lost silver by 0.001!
    • Double silver and no medal for Bromell?
