Uruguay got 7 medals at the South American Junior Artistic Gymnastics Championship:

 

  • Fiorella Otero was bronze at the under-14 women's all-around, and got medals in three apparatus.
  • Isabella Marenco was bronze at the under-11 women's all-around, and got the gold medal in vault.
  • Marenco, Camila Buck, Renata Rodríguez and Belén Sosa got bronze in women's under-11 team.

Uruguay has 64 competitors of 18 sports at the Youth Pan American Games, including three Olympians: Lola Moreira, Felipe Klüver and Nicole Frank.

Uruguay has 14 medals so far, with 8 gold, 3 silver and 3 bronze.

 

  • Rowing got 9 medals out of 10 events, with 6 golds, 1 silver and 2 bronze.
  • In swimming, Nicole Frank won the women's 200 m medley with a national record of 2'17.46. She and Luna Chabat broke multiple national records.
  • In sailing, Lola Moreira won the women's Laser Radial event.
  • In canoeing, Santiago Melo  was silver in the kayak individual 200 m race with 0'28.37.
  • In athletics, Santiago Catrofe was silver in men's 1500 m with 3'44.71.
  • In taewkondo, Sofía Lieghio was bronze in women's 49 kg.
  • In weightlifting, Ezequiel Almeida broke an 91 kg under-23 national record with 134 kg.

Víctor Rostagno got the vault silver medal at the South American Artistic Gymnastics Championship with an average score of 13.967.

 

Guillermo Maclean got the sabre bronze medal at the South American Fecing Championship. It's our first continental medal since 1999.

At the South American Rowing Championship:

 

  • Bruno Cetraro was gold in single lightweight and silver in single open.
  • Martín Zócalo annd Marcos Sarraute were gold in doubles.
  • Luciano García was silver in youth singles.
  • Valentín De Mattos, Luciano García, Joaquín Vásquez and Santiago Salgado were bronze in youth quads.

Uruguay hosted the South American Canoe Championship at Calcagno lake, just south of the Carrasco airport near Montevideo.

 

We had 57 competitors and won 78 medals, with four golds (none in senior classes), 66 silver (13 in senior classes) and eight bronze (four in senior classes).

Nahitán Nández, a national team football player, was accused by his former wife Sarah García of domestic violence.

 

When the authorities went to capture him, he had just flown to Italy, where he was detected coronavirus.

 

Nández denied the accusations, whereas his mother accused García for faking it.

Amílcar Vidal got his 14th professional boxing win versus Martín Bulacio in Buenos Aires to retain his WBC Latin middleweight title.

 

It was a very controversial unanimous decision according to the press and fans.

  • Swimming: Martín Melconian and Nicole Frank.
