With both our men’s & women’s TT team qualifying , who do you think should make the team ? Remember there will be double’s match in olympics team event.

For me,

Men : Harmeet , Sharath & Sathiyan

(* I think Sharath & Sathiyan can play well in doubles )

Women: Manika, Sreeja & Ayhika.

(* Manika & Ayhika to play doubles)

Boxing olympics qualifiers #1

What a terrible day for us. We lost all 3 of our bouts.
51Kg : Deepak lost 2-3 split decision to Huseynov :AZE ( Deepak was expected to win this bout)

+92 Kg : Narender lost his bout 0-5 to Tiafack :GER ( Narender was expected to loose this bout)

Women’s 60 Kg : Jasmine lost her bout 0-5 to Taguchi :JPN ( Jasmine waa expected to win her bout )

So with 3 out in the first round itself, we have 6 boxers left ( 5  men & 1 women) . We will be lucky to get even 1 quota from here!

ITTF team world championships Busan,  :KOR

Men’s Team ( Group 3)

:IND 3-0 :CHI

Comfortable win for our boys. Sharath, Harmeet & Sathiyan all won their matches in straight games.

Women’s Team ( Group 1)

:IND 2-3 :CHN

Big wins for Ayhika & Sreeja against the WR 1 & 2 respectively. Even though we lost, but winning 2

matches against the chinese should give us confidence to do well here & reach the QF .

AG World Cup Leg 1/4 : Cairo :EGY

( Only 2 quota place per apparatus per NOC is available)

Both our girls have made it to the vault final .
Dipa - 13.449 (3rd)

Pranati - 13.166 (7th)

Both will pick up vital points to help them qualify for olympics .

Elsewhere

Rakesh finished 20th in Rings with a score of 13.433 .
By my calculation he will pick up 2 pts by finishing 14th among eligible gymnasts.

Taniksha and Bhavani are the only ones who are close in the race for the Olympics 2024 for India in fencing at the moment.

Why is Taniksha not participating in Epee world cup? She didn’t participate in Doha, Qatar & is not listed in the next leg of world cup in Barcelona.
How will she improve her ranking if she doesn’t participate? Do you know the reason? Is she injured?
Karan singh & Bhavani Devi are listed as starters in the next leg of Sabre World cup in Georgia & Peru respectively.
Hopefully both will get good ranking points to move up.

At what time will Vishnu's final race start tomorrow?

Mid day Adelaide time. There will be a separate Race 11 among the quota contenders which is not the medal race . Medal race will be among the top 10 sailors to decide rankings.

In Judo, Avtar Singh is the only Indian in qualification zone for Olympics in -100kg category.

Yes in all likelihood we will qualify only one Judoka , most likely Avtar . As qualification scenario is very complex if you are not in top of your category.
But good thing is we have entered a team in most of the grand prix till the ranking cutoff date.
In recently concluded Portugal grand prix  all our judoka lost in first round itself except Asmita (48kg W ) , who reached till 3rd round winning two of her bouts.

But in Fencing there is continental qualifiers & if we can’t qualify via rankings , there is a chance to get the quota in continental qualifiers.

Neha squandered a similar chance, but hope Vishnu doesn't do it.

 Vishnu gets one of the 7 available quotas & we have our first sailing ️ quota for Paris. His last 3 races were tough & nearly lost it.

But finishing 26th/152 sailors in a world championships is a commendable achievement.

Hopefully Nethra can do well in the last chance regatta but it will be tough as only 3 quota places are available.
Are we eligible for the the emerging nations programme (ENP) quota?

@Prashanth, @Roamingrover86@Siddhartha Talukdar, @Prakash @Prakash_k, @Fly_like_a_don, @sanjaydas, @Shravan Kumar, @Sachin singh shekhawat, @Saatvik hey guys I have been a totally Olympics member for a long time , I find navigating different posts in each of the so many india clubs difficult for keeping up with India Olympics news ....each club has a few posts but there is very little engagement .... May I request we start using a single club for all india posts as it was before .... Can we post every india related postin this club ...it is called ekta so seems a good name

I find it easy to use , as sports are segregated into different threads, additionally we have Paris qualification thread to keep updated on athletes qualification.

If all gets put into a single thread , it might be difficult to follow if you don’t visit the page regularly.
Either way am OK with whatever the majority of the members decide. Especially old members & active members who are doing a fantastic job of updating sports results & relaying sports news. If they feel this is the best way , so be it.

AFC Asian cup

:IND 0-1 :SYR

Sad way to end our tournament. 0 points & 0 goals scored 6 conceded.

We are not progressing at the rate we should , expect our ranking to be around 117-118 .

Now focus must be on reaching Round 3 of WCQ with matches against :AFG in March.

Totally undeserving if the team can't defeat two lowly ranked teams at home and can't convert plenty of penalty corners. Hope this wakes up Hockey India and Sports Ministry and plans well for the next Olympic cycle.

Regarding contingent size this is a huge dent as hockey is the only team sport we are good enough and have reached a ceiling in terms of quotas in other sports we qualify usually. Also we are miles from qualifying in other sports where we never qualified.

But the contingent size should touch 100

Yes, it should cross 100. We have excelled in Shooting so far , already 4 extra qualifiers from Tokyo . I think we can add 1/2 more in shooting. So out of 16 lost in hockey we can compensate with 6 from shooting. I hope we can make up another 4-5 from athletics this time & reach break even in most of the other sports. Hopefully then we will have figure very close to Tokyo .

This will impact badly on our final contingent size. It will be tough to overcome Tokyo numbers now.
Very poor from the girls, playing at home and still can’t qualify. Need to start building from now for next Asian Games too many average players in the team.
