I don't receive anything, I'm going to do a test with another email service, to see if it's not hotmail/outlook that has problems with your email

Maybe it does not work if you are already logged in?

To make a test with another email service you should first change your email in your profile here, because the email will be sent only to the email address you set in your profile.

Is it just me, or does the Home page still have bugs. Like it's not updated instantly. I posted my comments an hour ago and left the forum. Now i entered the home page and they are shown as the latest ones and from 5 minutes ago :d Same with notifications, if someone has quoted me, i won't see them until i shuffle a few pages and it get's updated.

The latest replies box is updated once per minute, so if if you are unlucky it was just updated, you might have to wait 59 more seconds to see your reply in the latest replies box.

What do you mean with "Now i entered the home page and they are shown as the latest ones and from 5 minutes ago"? You mean you posted a reply which after one hour was shown as posted 5 minutes before?

Notifications also could be some seconds late, but to shuffle a few pages is a bit too much. Have you tried to delete your cache/cookies after the last forum update?

It sort of makes it feel like "Oh, nothing new" and so closing the tab when opening the main page :p

But if it's something from the builders of the forum software, there's not much we/you can do about it, and we'll get used to it :d

Yeah, I have the same feeling :d But I guess it's a matter of getting used to it. As written in that forum, the block was bugged for all this time, because if you opened a thread and then get back to the home page, the thread was bold until the cache was updated (1 minute).

Unread content is no longer showing in bold for me. Do I need to edit my settings or is this as a result of the update?

I can't do anything with that, as I wrote here they decided to remove bold from the topic feed because it was kind of bugged. Some people complained here so maybe they will put it back one day :d

Thanks. Yes, I face the problem only when I am using desktop version. On mobile, I am not facing any such problems. Lets hope that clearing cache solves the problem.

It's surely a browser related problem. It should be fixed automatically if you don't anything, but by clearning cache/cookies you might fix that immediately.

I am still facing issues with notifications. They are getting updated only when I log in. Later the notification icon keeps on showing the same notifications even if I have read those and there are new notifications.

@hckošiceHad the same problem until yesterday. Have you tried to remove the cache/cookies from your browser? Anyway, it should be something related to your browers which still connect on the old server in same pages. Can you try with another browser to see if you still face the same problem?

Number of reactions is absent.

This will be fixed.

Actually the exact number of posts is gone too (you have to scroll over the rounded value), so are the medals and the reaction score :(

These things as well.

I think the update is not completely finished yet, like the things mentioned above are still missing (but surely can be brought back, I guess the update unchecked a box here or there?). Also, the whole site is still rather slow as of this morning, but I'm hopeful that will get better once things settle down or something :p

Yeah, the update is finished, but I am still testing around so if you will see some weird things don't worry. Please keep reporting bugs.

What is this tyranny? We can no longer edit our own posts? :hairpull::scared:

It should now work?

We are going through a software update so there might be more bugs/problems in the next days, please report them here.

I can already tell you the latest replies box threads will not be bolded anymore for unread threads. There was already a bug before because threads remained bolded after the first time you opened them, so they decided to remove that feature at all and no threads will be bolded now :d

In France, we don't have any forum for multiple olympic sports, so it won't have to replace anything here. The issue is how to reach the people who might be interested ?

Yeah, that's the difficult part. From the experience of Totallympics I can tell you the difficult part is the very first one, where there are few posts and few active people. When the active people will grow, more people will be interested to join. You would not start exactly from zero because you can count on the French users who are already here. You can inform about the forum in other forums with sport fans (without this become spam :p ), some Facebook groups and so on. And after some time people will start getting on the forum through search engines, and you can relax and enjoy the forum :d

It seems like an impossible task to substistute national forums/groups which have been going on for years with hundreds of members. Why would they move, unless their forums crash and stop working and they need a new place.

Yeah, it surely won't be easy and maybe not even necessary. But some communities does not even have a forum/group and we might give them one. Or maybe they have a Facebook group whose features are very limited and we can give them a place where to have everything organized in sections, threads, using tables etc, something which social networks do not allow.

Also, there is nothing to loose in that, there are no expenses, should the forum never take off we can just close it anytime or try it in another moment.

I hope the community won’t be splintered with all these subforums. I quite like things as they are.

Absolutely, that should be one of the priorities when setting up those sub-forums. But I think we can easily avoid that.

Ideally, sub-forums would take the place of Facebook groups of olympic sport fans, giving them a better place to discuss rather than a Facebook group. And at most, it would take the place of National Threads, because for nations with lots of users I think one single national thread is not enough. We have seen that with India in the past, there were so many users that the National thread was not enough anymore for them and they moved to whatsapp groups.

In general, I think people interested to interact with people from the rest of the world would not leave Totallympics for their national sub-forum. A national sub-forum would bring more people who does not want to use English language or that simply are not interested to talk with people from all around the world.

But I agree that is something we should be careful on and that is why I think...

I suggest having a Iberoamerican forum, for all Spanish and Portuguese speaking sports fans.

...this idea could be dangerous because a multi-nations forum would take the place of the main Totallympics for spanish/portuguese speaking fans and that is not what we want.

The realbiathlon forum did that years ago and since then, the forum is basically just a part of the Tapatalk website...

https://www.tapatalk.com/groups/realbiathlon/

With Tapatalk's functionality instead of their own and things like that, I believe. Not sure how it goes exactly anymore there, mostly because I slowly stopped going there because the layout and everything was so annoying and impractical once it went to Tapatalk :p

Yeah. That would be basically like moving to a Facebook group, of course with more features. The mobile experience would probably be better, but I also see many negative points.

do you think would it be possible to make the forum available through the tapatalk app in the next future? :mumble:

it would be easier to use (to read posts, at least) on mobile phones rather than with a normal browser...

I'm not usre how tapatalk work, but if I'm not wrong that would mean to "sell" the forum to them?

On that note, is there a way to make the Ignore function work in such a way that you also don't see an ignored users' posts when someone quotes them? I don't think so, since the quote is simply a part of the non-ignored users' post, but who knows :p

It does work well though (if you combine it with manually skipping over any quoted posts by an ignored user), took me about a week to realize why there was a certain meme going around in the forum :d

No, unfortunately that is not possible. It would lead to also ignoring posts from users you don't ignore.
