"Hello gold medal", as I read someone saying on a Dutch forum after posting the Brazilian selection :p

Yes, I think this is too much for the other teams.

For example, Argentina coach is having big problems to assemble the team since european clubs are denying release of some of the best U23 players. I think the european teams will have similar problems.

Really? Except for Marquinhos, Neymar, Douglas Costa and maybe Gabriel Jesus this team is pretty average. Fred, Anderson and Rafinha are also decent players, but nothing really special. Their defenders/midfielders/goalkeepers are pretty underwhelming in my opinion. I think Neymar will have to win the gold medal on his own. Costa was really bad for Bayern in the last couple of months and Jesus didnt show anything at top level so far. I think this team is clearly worse than the one they had in 2012. Portugal/Germany/Argentina could have a much better team on paper, but they probably wont compete with their best team. Lets wait for the other teams first before we hand the gold to Brazil. Germany will miss Sane, Kimmich, Weigl, Tah, Rüdiger and we probably wont nominate players like Gündogan or Reus, so we probably wont fight for the gold, but Argentina and Portugal could send really great teams to Rio.

Germany is waiting them in semi:d

We first have to make it out of the group, which will be difficult enough. South Korea and Mexico both could very well beat us. I think with our best possible team we wouldve been the favorite for gold, but without players like Sane, Kimmich, Weigl, Rüdiger or Tah i dont see any chance that we will play for gold.

Two things:

-I think you're understimating brazilian league players. Believe me, I watched most of them in Libertadores and other competitions and this is a really good selection.

-We have already been denied half of our theoric starting XI and I think I read Porto/Benfica will deny many players too so I think Portugal won't be able to select the best either.

We will see. I think that brazilian clubs wouldnt stand a chance against top european clubs and tactically the brazilian league is much worse than the top european leagues, all half decent brazilian players are transferred to european clubs at a young age. Neymar is their only world class player and we will see if he is able to stand the pressure this time. Germany doesnt really seem to care about this competition, so i would like to see Portugal (if Renato Sanches will be nominated) or Brazil (they deserve it after the nightmare they had in 2014 and because they are the hosts) to take away the gold medal.

President of the argentine NOC: "there is a 50% chance we will have to withdraw from the olympic football tournament due to lack of players":facepalm::facepalm:

Also Martino may present his resignation due to this situation. Even the argentine clubs are denying players to the NT!
