Qualified Nations Group A Austria Canada Czech Republic Germany Sweden Group B Finland Latvia Slovakia Switzerland United States 2022 Championships Results Men's Ice Hockey IIHF Under 20 World Championship 2022 Men's Ice Hockey IIHF Under 20 Division I Group A World Championship 2022 Tournament Format Due extended sanctions of and IIHF decided that No team from last years Top division Tournament has been relegated and at same time No team from lower Division I Group A Tournament advanced to this Tournament. Which means same 10 Nations will play the Men´s Under 20 World Championship Top Division Tournament also this year. The 10 teams are divided into two, five-team Preliminary groups A and B in the Preliminary Round. After a single round-robin series in each group, the top four teams from each group advance to the Playoff Round while the fifth-placed team in each group will have to play the Relegation Round The top four placed teams from the Preliminary will play a cross-over Quarterfinal game: 1A vs. 4B, 1B vs. 4A, 2A vs. 3B and 2B vs. 3A. The winner of each Quarterfinal moves onto the Semi-Finals. In the semi-finals the best-ranked team - criteria: 1) placement in the group, 2) points in the preliminary round, 3) goal difference in the preliminary round, 4) goals scored in the preliminary round, 5) seeding coming into the tournament - will play against the lowest-ranked semi-finalist. The 2nd-best ranked semi-finalist will play the 3rd-best ranked semi-finalist. The host if qualified, or otherwise the best-ranked semi-finalist according to beforementioned criteria, shall play the early game. The time slots will officially be determined after the quarter-final games. The winner of each Semi-Final game will move onto the Gold Medal Game, while the losers will play in the Bronze Medal Game. The quarter-final losers will be ranked 5th to 8th according to 1. their position in the group, 2. their preliminary-round record (1. points, 2. goal difference, 3. goals scored). Relegation Round The two last-placed (5th) teams play a best-of-three Relegation Round series. The third game is only played if needed. Two very pleasant results today for team SVK Andrea Podmaníková (2nd from right in the front row) ended 18th in the 100 breast, aka 2nd reserve for the semis. 0.03 short of the crazy achieved team´s goal. Also the female 4x200 free relay ended 9th, at first view only 1 place from the heavens (Place in the final) but also almost 11 full seconds from that 8th rank All in all, well done team SVK

If not totallympics I would not have the chance to even know something like that was contested previous week. and if not our NOC website, no one in Slovakia would know about it at all (which would be a terrible shame) So thanks to our NOC I learned that the world team was coached by Erik Cáp (SVK NT coach ) who had 2 of his athletes in the team, and both did pretty well in Coralville, Especially Tajmuraz Salkazanov won all his 3 matches and Batyrbek Tsakulov ended with 1 Win, 1 Tie and 1 defeat credit to our NOC website https://www.olympic.sk/clanok/vyber-sveta-sp-zapasenie-2022 Tajmuraz is among the 10 Slovak Athlete of The Year nominated athletes, and for the first time will be part of the Gala show, I wonder in which position he will end, Obviously Petra Vlhová with her gold in Beijing is the top fav for the win, Slaf is for sure contender for 2nd place medal in Beijing and historic draft, but from 3rd place everything is open I think, I hope he will end the highest possible, because he deserve some adequate reward for everything he did and is doing for his new country sport

If will advance tomorrow to the final, for the first time a team who lost to an Arab country during the competition will be world champion - and -

From the last 12 Semifinals at WC 10 ended either by a draw or by 1 goal margin, the only 2 exceptions were 2 late extra-time goals in the 2-0 win over Germany in 2006 and ofc the - 7-1 in 2014 so such margin is quite exceptional
